  1. Gotta love martial arts!, well done, cool vids . Is this a don't try at home kind of thing? :slfg:
  2. The sennheiser in ear buds (the ones with the black rubber grommets) are rebranded logitech ear buds for twice (maybe 3x) the price. Literally the exact driver, casing, cables etc. You can get them as logitech for about $30-$50 and as sennheiser for $100+. It's cheeky but it's all the rage in brands these days. I suspect they got to the point where they'd need to invest a lot of money to make in ear speakers any better than what they could buy off the shelf so they stay focussed on their headphone market and rebrand the buds to ensure they have something in that category.
  3. don't go fot the cheap sennheiser inear headphones, they really are crap put my mate on to a pair and he has had them replaced six times and they always kept blowing. I live in headphones and have owned pretty much every pair of every price range and have had to replace very very expensive ones too. you can't go wrong with a good pair of sennheisers though, they are amazing and built to last and the sound quality is a step above, but very expensive. but just like everything, you really do get what you pay for
  4. thought as much dam they are cool though
  5. thanks for everyones suggestions i poured some petrol down there last night and covered it up and well it seems to have done the trick
  6. I started some sort of fascination with rays and sting rays when i used to be a scuba diving instructor no matter what other life was around i always used to find these guys amazing and awesome to interact with, well anyway from looking at alot of overseas forums and googleing alot of stuff i see that there is actually quite a few freshwater rays availible for aquariums and some of them just look amazing and a very manageable size. to cut a long story short are there any freshwater rays availible at all in new zealand or are we able to import them in at all?
  7. wasps have built a nest in the pile of old grass clippings along the fence, is there any good ways to gid rid of these suckers they've made a nice wee hold and just buzz in and out of it all day long and there i sheaps of them. i remeber when i was young we had one at my parents and dad just poured petrol down it at night time and burned the suckers , although i'm not sure that would be the best option for this one because its in dry grass clippings and by the neighbours fence and there is trees hanging above it.???
  8. I can't say about the sealing cement stuff as i have never used it but i think that with the cemix on a background that size it would take a long time before it stopped leaching into the water, the cementing was actually really easy in holes and things you just make it quite runny and sort of pour it over works really well but yeah i know it could get kind of expensive using cemix and resin
  9. i used cemix patch cement mix and i know others that have too it works very well, get some oxide powder, mix it with the cement and have a play around with it you will be able to get the exact colour you want that way. it works really well and the oxide powder comes in different colours. if you use the cement you will need to cover it in epoxy or yeah it will leech a bit, you don't need much and with a bit of sand takes off the shine and can look very very cool. good luck
  10. I have a few they definitly work well never used one to cool a tank though! but if thats what you want to use it for you could sure make it work
  11. cook them right and they are dam tasty if you ask me!
  12. I dunno drifties at a school funraising event sounds like fun especially if your looking for job satisfaction! maybe not the best if you want to keep the job though 8)
  13. like smidey said front up first and ask them you may not need to. no point starting a pointless war or one you can't win!
  14. Have you talked to them? they may be very understanding and quieten down if you ask nicely, young people culture is very different now days and they may not even realise it is bothering you so much , let alone be doing in intentionally to annoy you. so try talking to them and then if they don't care well then bring in the noise patrol
  15. had never really thought about it but while were slightly on topic what other seafood is good for fish i can get a hold of it all very easily but never really thought of feeding it to my fish

thanks phoenix the other discus i couldn't get a picture of has tiny little fungus looking spots on its side not very many but looks exactly the same stuff as the other fish. all the other fish in the tank seem fine. I'll do a massive water change for them tonight any ideas on how to treat a bad black beard algae problem without using the flourish?

    discus help

I have just had a look at my parents discus tank and noticed that the 2 discus don't really look that healthy I think it may be fin rot? kinda hard to tell from the picture but all the white bits are like furry fungus looking. the tank is 4ft and they are running an aquaone 1200 cannister filter, they have been having a problem with black beard algae and have been treating it with flourish xl which seems to be working would that harm fish in anyway? any ideas on what this is and how to get rid of it would be great
