  1. I wont tell you about all the Possum Joeys we end up having to deal with then, I hate killing things I really do, my friends laugh at me when Im collecting the trap, I apologise to every possum and explain why I have to do what im doing, Hillary has been bugging me for one for ages, I had one as a kid, they get big pretty quickly and dont realise what their claws do, I wish they we're native, or at least didnt effect our natives so much, especially in area's were native are really strugling to hang on now, they're so cute. Shes alright in small doses, there was too many of them there today tho, all the giggling did my head in in minutes

LOL! Animals have always been a big part of my life too, when I was a kid I has untold sick penguins, seaguls, black back gulls, and even at one stage a grey herron. As well as my bathtub of mud crabs I used to have to haul 3 ltrs of clean salt water to every morning before school from the harbour in ohiwa. I dont think Ive ever bought an animal tho apart from 2 goldfish when I was 7 and a pack of sea monkeys about a year later, all rescue cases. I dont think theres any thing more rewarding then helping an unfortunate animal get back on its feet and lead a happy and healthy life.
  3. Aww Ill be down tomorrow to check him out, when I read this post I presumed you were referring to my sisters party today haha! Im sure in some way thats what you meant lol.

  5. I dont know if there is or has been a thread on this in the past, but as Im considering getting more fish now, and take great pride in naming my pets, I thought Id start a thread where people can list their current pets name, or possible names, even some stories behind some of your current pets names. Moses = My Border Collie X Golden Retriever. I pulled him out of a river when he was just a puppy, unfortunetly I couldnt save his brothers and sisters too, Moses kinda fit coz I tried so hard to save him i might as well have parted water. Douglas (dougie) = My ginger cat, nicknamed Lord Douglas of Greeton by the vet nurse. Predesessor of Angus my first ginger tom. Pablo = My sisters rat, I put this here coz i name all her pets lol, Pablo is spanish for Paul and latin for little one. Coby = My new VT Betta, speaking to his previous owner he was supposed to be cobolt coloured, but hes more violet, Id already chosen Coby for the colour cobolt but when I seen him he just seemed like a Coby lol, you know how that is some times, they almost name themselves. Im hoping I can get a blue VT female to breed him with, Ill call her Sora, Japanese for Sky (love the japanese names)
  6. wow thats very cool nice work
  7. Wow they're beautiful, so I guess Im getting an albino cory then lol, now to find one in the bay...
  8. Im looking round for a nice cory at the moment, hard to find in tauranga at the moment it seems, there is one place just out of town with bronze and panda one's I might go look at tomorrow albino sterbai with peach side fins sounds like an interesting fish tho, currently googling for a pic.
  9. yeah possibly, but who knows, maybe its an aquired taste lol. I want guppies now they sound funny, the ones in the tank that Coby stayed in last night while I got my tank sorted were a great laugh, brave little buggers Ill give them that much.
  10. Yup its down to the personalities. My cockatiels lived with a canary I found flying around outside, infact my older one lester used to feed the canary, but my younger cockatiel used to get a lil stroppy at times with the canary. Hooked beaks and strait beaks together I know! but my cockatiels were both hand reared and I dont think they knew they were birds. Test them out side by side, see if they get on well together, some times strange little bonds can form, other times its like chalk and cheese.
  11. Oh geez that is nice, almost too much tho lol.
  12. ah righto, well the lps didnt have any bottom feeders anyways, I wanna corydora if I can get one. Just put some plants in now too so I should be expecting snails then?
  13. yeah its freeze dried, its the movement factor Im sure, that tubifex doesnt just float on the surface, it kinda movies around in any currents, he eats any bit he can see moving randomly. I have a bucket outside getting green, going to get some live daphnia going in there. I'll get some frozen blood worms tomorrow and see how he goes on that.
  14. I guess Ill just be patient and keep an eye on him, if he hasnt eaten anything by tomorrow Ill get some more live daphnia for him. He looked tempted at the tubifex but then came back and stared at me again as if to be asking for those live ones lol, I wouldnt be so worried if he came to me healthy but hes really really skinny
  15. Ah right, yeah I can see why it was 'love at first site' that fish is a beauty, love those blues realy nice. Good to know, as long as im not stressing him out, Ive only done it twice and the first time he went and hid, this mornin tho it was all show, that mirror fish was in for it
  16. Not seeing the pics come up, but no worries thats what copy/paste is for
  17. Cool Im going down for a look now, might avoid snails due to the breeding then and the waste issue. Thanks alot
  18. Well I think thats what they might be called anyway, those ones that cruise around cleaning up the messes left by other fish. Well what I want to know is, do they acually help keep the tank clean and free of algae?, or would I be better off with a few snails or something else? My fighter is quite the timid little man so I dont want anything too big and scary, but a lil inside help in tank maintenance wouldnt be a bad thing.
  19. Welcome, its great to see that your here for feedback to help make your store the best it can be.
  20. Thats true but I mean these are supposed to be people pets, not fishing to feed the whanau.
  21. How does the plant fert effect the water as far as the fish are conerned? I guess its better for them to have real plants around them, or perhaps they cant tell the difference I dont know lol. Im going to pick up some fake ones today to makes thing look a lil more interesting.
  22. Wow well done those are some really nice fish, and the variety is amazing too. I kinda wish you lived in Tauranga so I could get Coby a girlfriend
  23. Will have to hunt around for a pic of 'your boy' he sound neat, wow those colours are amazing too. BTW does it stress them out having them flare up at a mirror or another fighter?
