  1. Im quite keen for a school of those threadfins. Where would you recommend buying them? And when you say that they are really small, does that mean it would be ok to buy more than i intended? Thanks
  2. Oh thats great!, How many can i get ? i could go for say 5 of each or 10 of one type? (what would work better?) Its 60L so isn't that like 12" of fish?
  3. YEa i got my drift wood from there. My fish are alive so i would say its fine. ( thats after i boiled it)
  4. WOW !! I love both those!! nice pics, i really like the rainbow one Can you get those in Wellington? ? ? Edit: HOw many could i put in my tank?
  5. Small rainbows? what are they? ( so i can look them up)
  6. There nice, But i have a powerhead that causes a current. (co2) so they probley woudnt like that.
  7. Hey, I want to finally get some fish for my cycled tank. ( have used 4 platys to cycle) :bounce: Here is my tank: (its a oldish photo) But its 60L, i has DIY Co2, 24W light, cycled water and gravel substrate. What would be some cool fish to keep? like combos (Clean fish, color, interesting etc.. ) Also i live in Wellington so local fish would be best Thanks
  8. Hey, I have just used a formula i found on the internet to work out weather my tank is getting enough light for the plants im trying to grow. Watts Divided by Gallons Then 1-2 = low light 2-3 = med light and 3+ = high light Anyway.. I have a low light tank, BUT i want it to be a High light tank. so i need more Wattage!! i currently have 24W light over my 60L tank. So to increase the light wattage, should i buy another light or upgrade or.. what? And how much for each option.
  9. I have this brown hair like algae growing on my plants.. How do i control it?
  10. I have a Eheim is my 60L ATM. Its very quite and it has an air intake too, so you wont need an air pump. It was also very cheap! i got the 70L-100L filter. and it cost me $34. And on top of that, the replacement media is very cheap!
  11. heyy I have 4 platys in my 60L ATM. One is heavily pregnant and is always hiding. ( thats fine) but the other 3... The ratio is 3:1 female to male. And the male is consistently chasing one of the females!! Why is he only chasing one of the two females in his sight? And when the girl he is always chasing gets away and hides, the male doesnt even look at the other female... :-? Is this behavior going to end up killing the chased female? I have heard of them dieing for stress, but im getting stressed just from watching it!
  12. Ok i have just unplugged the CO2, because i have just noticed tiny green dots on the glass. They have just come up after i put the Co2 in.
  13. Ok my Tank is 60L. The bubbles are flowing at a rate of 3-4 bubbles per second, but then sometimes 1-2 per second. so 3ish ps? Hang on, the temp of the solution is starting to drop and so is the rate of bubbles. Its now sitting around at 2 bubble per second and then its having random zeros. Im thinking that the cold will stablise the CO2?
  14. Hang on!m Isn't the Baking Soda meant to counter act the lowering effect of the Co2?
  15. OMG! the entire tank is full of thousands on tiny bubbles!!! I have 4 platys ATM will they live?
  16. Could always get a desk lamp or something and put it next to it, it'll use a lot of power but that's just the way it goes? Well i have the tank next to my bed.. So that wouldn't work when im trying to sleep.
  17. Oh too much yeast ok, The Bottle is below the tank level, its currently sitting in the tank stand. And the tube goes into the intake pipe of the power head. I have just pegged the tube and i think thats helping control the amount. But can this Co2 pluge damage the fish of anything?
  18. Heya, Im freaking out here. I have my Co2 outlet in the intake of one of my power heads. But i think it is working TOO well.. Its shredding the Co2 into billions of tinny bubbles which are everywhere. Is that bad? Im only worried about the fish ATM . (Its a DIY set up, And i have two bottles one to make the Co2 and one to catch the gunk. And then it runs into the power head. I have in the second bottle water to separate the gas and Gunk and also to see the bubbles. ATM the bubbles are going at a rate of around 3 bubbles per second. And the power head its blurting them out in sets, like blaaa, then one second later, BLARR !! . ) (hope that makes sense) HELP!!
  19. Heyy, I Have heard that the Yeast solution needs to be kept warm otherwise it severely slows the process down. How should i keep it warm? I have rapped a sock around the bottle. But i don't have a spare heater to put it in a bucket with warm water either. Nor do i have any room to strap it onto the tank. How the heck do i keep it warm?
  20. Whats the deal with Sand? Sand vs Gravel, Which is better for plants?
  21. Ok so you said that the Sea shells would raise the Ph, but what if you have drift wood in the tank? wouldn't that balance it?
  22. I agree, my tank has a few bits of wood in it, there not that large but they have given the water a really natural look. I like it
  23. Yea i do, 3 Platys and 2 baby Guppies.
