If my calculations (counting on my fingers) is correct, this is the 5th week this tank has been filled. Big changes after this, pulling out most of the chain sword, it's just doing TOO well in this tank and starting to really take over. The brown hair algae is going grey so fingers crossed it continues to die. And finally, getting some hairgrass in exchange for the chain sword. Should look heaps different by next update.

It's at 26 right now, would I want it any lower than 24 with a Betta and Embers in there?

The yellow plants up the middle look dead but the rest is alright. I enjoy live plants but I can see how someone who is only interested in fish would find that appealing.

Yeah felt on the inside, velcro on the outside :nilly: My last day is on Wednesday thankfully, I still have a LOT of graphics to do. Everything else has come together nicely though, looking forward to leaving 8)

I agree, lighting alone can't be blamed for algae issues but it's arguably the biggest contributor to algae.

Yeah the advice on ASW forums was to sit tight, keep doing what I'm doing and increase water changes. It's in my room so there's no escaping it :nilly:

I'm battling algae with 2x T5HO, despite pressurized CO2. Guess it depends on the depth of the tank.

Sadly very few of the plants at the LFS are suitable for aquatic use. Which part of the country are you in?

It would need to be at least twice as deep to accommodate discus in the long run. Maybe Angels but they get pretty big too. You can get some quite colourful small fish such as male guppies or tetras.

One is all you need, especially without CO2.

The trick is to attach a thin layer of moss to a rock or some wood using cotton thread. There should be no moss overlapping and you can go a bit crazy with the cotton, just make sure it's tied down tightly.

It does better in medium-high light but is said to survive in lower light. Maybe something like Java or Xmas moss might interest you also?

It's not the cheapest to start due to it's slow growth but once it gets going, you'll have it coming out your ears. I only started with a single plantlet a while back and it's survived in every tank I've tried it in, impossible to kill really.
