  1. He's in the hospital tank now, flaring at himself in the mirrored background. Dosed 2 drops of "TONIC". Instructions said add 1ml per 20 litres of aquarium water (1 drop per litre) 1.5% Methylene Blue, 0.1% Malachite Green, 0.05% Acriflavine, 0.04% Quinine. Does this sound right? I want to know if I can dose a further 26 drops (He's in a 28 Litre aquarium)?
  2. My Platies were at a M:F ratio of 1:2. The male kept harrassing the one female so he got kicked out, just had my first Platy drop yesterday. 5 caught so far but the Kribs were having a feast.
  3. I thought about this, but it seems too hard and fish should just be fish.
  4. Remember that it's a 2ft tank guys! Don't want to stunt their growth, or break my tank, or drown them.
  5. Thanks Livingart and ADodge. He seems fine this morning, still swimming around heaps like he usually does. I'm going to move him after school as I don't have the time now and I don't want to rush acclimitization.
  6. Can you recommend anyone who sells Miniature Aquactic Farming Equiptment at discount prices Whetu? Thanks for the feedback guys. Any suggestions on Fauna?
  7. Yes, very hard to see. Set up a hospital tank for him/her tonight, hoping to move him/her in by Friday. I have some General Tonic that's used for healing Fin Rot and other fungal infections, contains Meth Green and/or Blue. This sound any good?
  8. Unfortunately when fish get sick, it's hard to fix them. My Harlequins had some sort of disease, I think it was fin rot, and they got white stuff all over them. Moved them to a hospital tank and they died over the next two days. If the fish are suffering I can recommend a humane way to put them out of it.
  9. Most of the red has disappered this morning but still some little spots. Can't see any signs of lost fins but I don't think is over yet.
  10. If I can get a decent pair then I might have to move some fish around... The lids on my tank are custom, only a 1cm gap around the HOB but sit inside the spacer bars so they're tight but touchy.
  11. So a 90 x 30 x 30 (81L) tank with BN's, Kribs, Platies and Female Fighter is no good then?
  12. Ammo should be at Zero, never been about 5ppm ever. Moved out of tank, tore down tank, moved back in. He's had this condition on and off for the past month or so but now it's gotten much worse.
  13. Where can I get Furan from?
  14. I reckon you should make it a really cool planted tank like Whetu's one. Load it up with some Dwarf Cichlids, Tetras, Cory's and perhaps angels. That's just my opinion though. Good luck
  15. I have a fighter who gets red "spots" on his fins and then they (the part of his fins that turned red) disappear. I thought he might be biting it off but now I think that's not the case. Here's some pics to give you an idea of what I'm talking about: It'd be great if you could give me suggestions on what it could be? He doesn't seem to be in any pain but there's a big splotch now that looks kinda serious. He's in a tank of his own. (10001th post in the Disease section!)
  16. Never seen any before, but I'd imagine they'd be quite easy to make. Why would you want mesh lids?

    New Tank

They're more expensive because they have dividers.
  18. What would be the smallest tank to keep Pantodon buchholzi in? Anyone had any experience with them? What other fix can be kept with them? Thanks.
  19. 54L being 60cm x 30cm x 30cm? The angel(s) will grow out of that pretty quickly or stunt. If you get a fighter then he will be agressive to the angels as they have long fins and are seen as a threat to him. Red tailed sharks are suited to larger tanks but IF bought very young a kept singly they MAY be okay as long as they have their own cave or territory. If I were you I'd either get 5 more serpaes and/or 10 neons, large schools look great. I'm rescaping my 54L so check this link for further advice (mainly about plants): viewtopic.php?f=2&t=40214 Good luck.
  20. Imagine what an Oscar would do to my scape! And yeah, I should thin it out. I don't like schooling fish, my neons and harlequins all died from infections that they all got. Maybe it's just my luck though? Anyone got Killies and/or info on them?
  21. Nice tank! What species are these shrimp and what are their requirements? Thanks.
  22. Heater moved behind the Hygro and Bacopa, can't see any silver now . Tank looks clear this morning. What should/can/could I stock it with? Open to any BN, Betta, Platy and Plant friendly suggestions. Must be able to fit in a 2ft 54L tank.
