  1. Good thing you have friends, aye Phoenix?
  2. My BN's can change their colour depending on their environment. I moved them from a dark grey gravel tank to a "Fruit Salad"/Light Yellow gravel tank and they became lighter. I read that they get "tanned" if kept under bright ligths and go pale if they spend ages in a cave, not sure how true this is though.
  3. Do you breed them (budgies) Bud?
  4. Looking into movie my two Zebra's into an outdoor aviary, meaning I'll have a spare cage. Never had Budgies or Lovebirds, not even tame birds, but I want to give it a go. I'm looking at getting ONE baby bird and I'd like it to be shoulder, finger and hand tame, doesn't have to talk but it'd be nice. Which one would YOU suggest? Any tips on training them? Do any of you breed either of these? Thanks
  5. Thanks Phoeeeeeeeenix! Did WC, added more tonic, he still ignores me.
  6. All the red on his fins is gone and he's just being his normal self, but more hungry. He likes to swim into the pot, hide in the dark, then slowly come out. It looks super wicked and kinda scary. Can I feed him or not? If so, flakes or freeze dried bloodworms? Today I'm supposed to do a 25% water change and add 1ml per 30 litres. Sound okay?
  7. I think it's the fact that they've blended it so well and that it looks realistic thatmakes them so amazing. What would we do without computers?
  8. Thanks ADodge. But how DO you keep fighters for long periods of time, say, their whole life? Still use Soda Bottles? The fighters you sold me all went into 27L+ tanks and they're spoilt.
  9. So it's okay then ADodge? Can I get more fighters (probably off you) and store them in coke bottles in the long term (for their whole life)?
  10. Thanks Spoon. Has anyone had any experience making their own tank dividers (both permenant and temporary)?
  11. I'm just not quite convinced. I mean I get the point in the short term, to keep males from fighting each other, but can fish really be happy in that much water? I can fit 10 bottles in my 45x25x25 tank with a little bit of room at the back but would this mean huge filtration and/or heaps of water changes?
  12. I was just wondering if it was safe/healthy to house fighters in soda bottles (20cm high x 9cm diameter) for their whole lives? Or is it better to give them more room? Thanks
  13. I had the same problem, ended up just buying from Zoo-pur-market, cost me a bit too. So much easier to light 2 foot and 4 foot tanks 'coz Bunnings has the bulbs. I think I saw some 3 foot tubes in Lighting (Plus/Direct) in the Manukau Supa Centre. Perhaps ring around?
  14. Not much meat on this fish! I mean he's fat and all but it wouldn't be worth the filleting! Can I feed him in the hospital tank? Is this a good idea?
  15. Tetris FTW! Used to play online MMORPG's but kinda grew out of that. Play a bit of GTA VC now days.

    Tank Setup

I keep most of my tanks on a tiny liddle shelf tucked away in the office far away from where anyone can see or hear them. Have two display tanks elsewhere in the house. Wasn't allowed to show the public my "Bare-Bottomed" breeder tanks, far too ugly.
  17. Don't things just happen insantly anymore? You can buy heat 'n' eat Dinner so why not heat 'n' treat fish meds?
  18. This is the Wikianswers answer to what eats hydra: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_eats_hydra I've never heard that paradise fish eat them but maybe that's just my lack of knowledge. If you want them to eat the hydra then don't feed them other food.
  19. No signs of healing, tank is a cool shade of blue though. He is flaring at himself still and sometimes at the tank next to him. Can they see each other through the glass if the two tanks aren't joined? E.G: ([___] [___]) (<--- Those are the two tanks)
  20. Just added the other 26 drops, tank looks blue now. Fish still flaring at his own reflection, took no notice of me dosing the tank.
  21. Tank has only a heater, thermometer, sponge filter and small clay pot.

Bio-topes don't let you have much room in terms of livestock and most of them are dull but great for the fish. You could try an Asian Themed tank then you could have asian fish, mostly asian plants but also some plants from other parts of the world too. Plants could be (correct me if I'm mistaken): -Blyxa -Java Moss -Java Fern -Crypts -Rotala -Hygrophila If you really wanted to go all out then I'd suggest getting wood and other decor from that reigon too.
  23. I gave up on that CT spawn I had going. He just wasn't interested but she was super keen. Great that you have had some spawns. Good luck for future breedings.
