  1. Wow, smcoleman your room looks great. You should feel what it's like walking into Phil's room. Especially when you go in from the winter cold, the heat is just amazing. Nice room, huge setup.
  2. I sometimes feed freeze dried B.W's to my males but not usually to her, especially not recently. Compared to the picks of dropsy that I've seen, she looks fine. Her scales do protrude a tiny bit but if you saw how big she is, you'd understand. I'll try get pics tomorrow.
  3. I guess I'm in the minority on this one then... I just don't see how smacking a child because s/he did something wrong, e.g hitting another child, is going to solve it. It should just increase the violence of the child and show them that smacking is okay. :-?
  4. Never had a heater fail on me, then again, I haven't been into fish that long. Picked up a MasterPet one and didn't realise you weren't suppossed to emerse it. Worked fine on a 28L (55w) but had to crank the temp to 32 to get it to run at 26 :-? . Doesn't work very well anymore, I just use it to heat water change buckets occasionaly. The trick is to get an appropriate sized heater so it doesn't have to switch on and off heaps.
  5. We have a winner! Other suggestions are good too, might have to change his name? LOL
  6. Pssh! Those are just thumbs. The above interests me more :-?
  7. Nope, not Rollrollrollrollbigeyes.
  8. Nope, not bubbles or whitey or MJ. Keep guessing
  9. Was doing the dishes this morning (your welcome mum), and decided to sit the budgie up in front of me. I noticed that the BUBBLES where white and the BUDGIE was white. Then I clicked and came up with a name for him.
  10. I use an AquaOne (Slimey) 50w heater in my 27L, works fine. So I'd imagine that a 25w should be okay. These guys do cheap aquarium supplies:http://www.aquarium.net.nz/shoppingcart.html And heaters: http://www.aquarium.net.nz/cart_product ... Title=AQUA ONE HEATERS&Source_Category_ID=15
  11. There's actually a piece I need to use that has a slice out of it for a HOB Filter. I was going to use on of the offcuts to seal that up. Got it sorted now, just got to wait for the Acrylic to arrive. Thanks everyone
  12. Is it expensive compared to getting a 350x300x300mm tank made?
  13. I looked at some Google Images of dropsy and it didn't look as bad as that. Might wait to see if she drops. if she hasn't in a week then I'll see if the male can make her do it.
  14. I still think this is an awesome idea, but is it going to be a one off competition or a long running event? Perhaps prizes only for this one and a prizeless monthly comp?
  15. I have a female red cambodian fighter who has been ehavy with eggs ever since I got her. I tried spawning her with my CT male but no luck there. I popped her back in my biggest tank and now she chooses the corner by the net breeder to hang out, she rarely moves from there. She looks as if she's about to explode, literally. It doesn't seem like a disease although her scales do seems like they're about to pop off. Apart from looking huge and slight swimming diffuculty (due to huge belly) she seems normal. Do I need to try and spawn her again or is it safe to leave her? Thanks.
  16. Is the job I stated likely to be very expensive?
  17. *sigh* This makes it far too broad IMO. 66L above is huge! More rescrictions are needed or you could have 66L's vs 1000L's.
  18. Im interested, ellaborate please. I though my fish cupboard was a mess...
  19. Thanks Morcs, Also, how would I go about it? Do I just draw up some lines where I need the cuts or should I let them measure it? Plus I need 1cm cut of some 30cm long pieces.
  20. Does anyone know how much it would cost to get three 35cm cuts in some glass? I just need some parts trimmed off for making a tank. Any glass cutters in the Manukau area who'd do this for me? Thanks.
  21. I would but my shelf is super boring ATM. Nano hairgrass tank, semifilled hospital tank and a poly'd up rearing tank below. I'm really starting to prefer my display tanks....
  22. Plus people could setup temporary tanks that look awesome but one week after the comps over, the whole thing rots and dies. Perhaps weekly photos/photo journal?

    6 litre nano

I'v heard of "our" shrimp lasting over 3 months at 26 degrees. How long is their lifespan though?
