I hid my heater behind the plants, still goes fine. Too bad they don't make subtley coloured heaters... If you put enough light and not enough CO2 and ferts, you can have a lovely green wall like mine. Hopefully the new Otto's will get onto it soon.

And neglected pools! How about an indoor tropical pond? If I made a box out of 2x4's and ply and sat a preformed pond/paddling pool in there would that work?

I was thinking a 3ft or 4ft pond about 2ft or 3ft wide? Can frogs go in a pond? Boss lady likes frogs heaps.

I used a clear plastic cup for catching them, works on platies as well. Just be patient and try to bring the cup up under them, it's far easier if there's no other fish in the tank to worry about. I'm trying to devise an overflow system which sucks and drops the fry into a seperate chamber but no luck so far.

I'd like to make my own pond in the backyard and I have a few questions... Is it cheaper to buy pond liner or preformed ponds? Can you heat a pond efficiently? What can go in a pond apart from goldfish? How do you run power from the mains to the pond? Thanks

I don't mean to speak for ADodge but I believe she's going on holiday. That's probably why she's shut down all but two tanks. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it was just his nervous system. He went belly up pretty quickly and it's far less grousome than decapition or slamming him into a wall. I might have to do it again, female with possible dropsy :-? . I didn't have any clove oil and his whole bottom (scientific name for fin?) fin went red. By tomorrow he would have had nearly no fins. This was much more humane than just leaving him.

I just put one of my Betta's that had severe fin rot out of his misery today. Put osme water in a little plastic container in the freezer, waited till it had iced over and broke the ice. Netted him from the tank and dropped him in the water. He went motionless, went nuts, then stopped. He's in the freezer at the moment. Much nicer than dropping them in boiling water. (The above quote was mine )

I'm starting to think dropsy now. Her scales are sticking out more but she's not behaving differently. Is there a cure for egg binding?

Maybe I don't have it sorted... :oops: There's one peice of glass that is 30cm x 30cm BUT it has a 20cm long x 3-4cm high slot cut out of the top for a HOB filter to go. Can I just stick another peice of glass on this and seal it up or will I have to make the tank 3 or 4 cm shorter? And, can I make this tank sit next to one of my other tanks and have them share the same water without any drilling? Thanks

Even I haven't heard of Lolzor and I thought I was down with it. Fine, if you won't tell me then I'll just have to make my own secret tank. 8) Hopefully getting another nano made soon, should be good.
