  1. You'd be hard pressed to find anything affordable that isn't Chinese made, doesn't mean they're not good regulators. I've had success with two regulators from fish-street.
  2. You don't need a pH controller, this just complicates things. All you need is a regulator with solenoid needle valve, a diffuser and some CO2 tubing. Then buy a cylinder for $200-$300, not particularly expensive.
  3. I've heard horror stories of random regulator failures dumping the whole tank of CO2 into the living room, most issues are caused when tanks are knocked or reach too high of a temperature but there's always that risk of failure. It's a 7kg pressurised missile, that's enough for me to get paranoid about.
  4. I have enough paranoia with a certified CO2 cylinder, I'd hate to think what might happen if a fire extinguisher rig went wrong. How much do you expect to save using this method?

    Learner Driver Fish

"in parts of Southeast Asia, goldfish were thought to live in puddles so were believed to be happy living in confined spaces, he said." He clearly knows his stuff  Except you know, the thousands of fish keepers up and down the country.

    WCMM food

Mine enjoyed tetramin flakes Mon-Fri, frozen bloodworms on Saturday and had a day off on Sunday. Here's my tank when I had over 70 longfin WCMM in it. viewtopic.php?p=689771#p689771

You think so? We were as cautious as ever, thankfully they've agreed to take it back for a full refund.

    The What's Up? thread.

Just spent the good part of my evening moving my 200 odd angel fry into a bucket, removing their aquarium from the stand, shortening the stand by a couple of blocks and replacing their aquarium on the stand. Added a tank I bought off TradeMe too (they just fit) and filled it up only to find it had a leak at the back. This is the LAST time I'm buying a second hand tank! More fool me for not leak testing it, can't take people's word for it these days :an!gry
  13. This tank had a huge crack in it, wasn't going to take a risk with it right above my bed so I sold it to someone with the knowledge and time to repair it. Stand currently houses a 90x45x45 with angel fry with another 90cm tank soon to follow.
  14. :iag: As always, shelling out for the real deal is always the way to go. Cheap CO2 tricks will only get you so far.
  15. Good for a morning jam, Koan Sound- Dynasty https://soundcloud.com/koan-sound/dynasty
  16. Ira confirmed for human, not sarcastic super computer as first thought  Looks like a fun gadget! 8)
  17. Still feeding brine shrimp as their main staple, water changes are 50% every three days. Fry are currently 6 weeks old.
  18. M@ your scape looks spot on, clearly a lot of thought went in to creating it especially the sticks coming out of the water, they really add an extra layer of depth. Keep an eye on the sword though, without regular trimming it will soon take over the tank. Can't wait to see how this one develops.
  19. Move the two rightmost rocks to the right just in front of the heater and the left pile about 5-10cm to the right too.
  20. He'll have better success growing plants in that gravel than in silica sand though.
  21. Your above hardscape is a good start but it lacks order and hierarchy. Start with a large stone that reaches around 2/3 the height of the tank followed by a smaller stone to provide tension. Then place an even smaller stone to compliment the largest stone. Your focal point should be 1/3 of the way across the tank for it to be pleasing to the eye. This guide here is very helpful.
  22. When you do your weekly water change just squeeze it out a few times in the old tank water bucket. Blue Opaline Gourami grow a little too large for your tank (15cm). Although they are more sensitive, may I suggest a neon blue dwarf gourami instead?
  23. It's going to be good! RSVP asap we need numbers!
  24. Don't rush the planting! Waiting for feedback and making sure your hardscape is perfect will ensure you end up with a tank you're happy with. We call 'plantscape' either planting or plant layout. Monitor the temperature of your aquarium throughout the day, if it's getting too hot then adding frozen bottles of water or a fan blowing across the surface can help reduce the temperature.
  25. Finally moved them to their new 180L tank (900x450x450). Move went smoothly, counted 247 but they look so small in this tank!
