I've only ever used glass thermometers (less than $5.00 ea) and have only ever had one misreading. I later found out that this particular one had been smashed so I removed it.
It's tidier than it looks. It's a neat little tank but I want to go in another direction with it. I figure that this is something you don't see everyday so I'll try to sell it.
You can't even just float the swordtail in the tank it's currently in?
Whenever I have unexpected fry, I remove any predatory fish instead of the fry. Even if it's just floating them in an ice cream container until they have another tank they can go into.
Forget WPG, it is too often in accurate. Imagine putting 4 watts of light over a 1 gallon tank, you'd have 4wpg but not be able to grow much. Intensity is more important,
Just one should be fine, the plants won't die due to lack of CO2
So it's been nearly 3 months since I last updated this. Since then the fighter has passed on and the tank is now empty of everything except the light. The grass has become much thicker but now I've decided I'd like to rescape.
I'm considering selling the grass and/or tank so if anyone is interested in either please give me a PM or Email.
Thanks!
I think he let it drop to below 28C over night so then it was cooler before the room started to heat up again. Leaving the heater in would keep it at 28C therefore giving the tank a "head start" on heating up. Just a thought.
I might be able to help when it comes to plants and perhaps fish too. I have about 50 baby BN's and a tank that needs trimming soon. Not to mention the hair grass tank I'm scrapping.
Thats crazy Supasi!
Mine stopped working a while back so I shook it  . It spat the mixture into the tank and clouded it. Cleaned it up and its giving out groups of bubbles every few seconds.
JenniferH. Becoming quite the planted tank lady I see
I use 1.25L homebrand soda bottles. 2 cups sugar, 1tsp yeast and then I fill up to the curve of the bottle with warm water. Shake it up and watch the Riccia pearl 8)
I'm just going by common sense and past experience. I've put lower wattage light tubes in higher rated units and nothing's gone wrong. That's not to say nothing will go wrong. :-?
Well since you asked so nicely ADodge... I'm kind of between tanks at the moment and the first ever fighter I had (thanks ADodge!) was recently euthanized due to dropsy . The male and female I bred with are in tanks with no/poor lighting so this is the only one I could get okay pics of.
I think I trimmed it once, haven't pulled any out. As long as it's kept under good, strong lights, then it should stay compact.
