Yeah, the polysperma's growing already which is good, would liked to have had a clean start though. I know all to well about value for money. Costs around $15 for fixture and lamp, enough to grow hairgrass very well in the "large splish splash". Saw great growth out of Glosso with 3 of these, pity I ran into algae problems I couldn't fix :-? I have 40 odd BN babies pooping alot, anyway I can use this as fertilizer for my aquatic plants? Thanks
  2. Technically this is DIY so where do I put it? Here for now. Just got a free 60x30 tank from Brennos and am going to make a stand for it from MDF. Came with a small HOB filter but I'd also like to make a refugium on top of it. The plan is run a power head from the tank up through a pipe that curves over the edge of a fish bin or similar. That fish bin would be located on top of the light hood and filled with a heater, sponges, biological media and a section for fry or other fish. The concept is that water is pumped up from the tank, through the hood, into the bin, past all the equipment and back down via an overflow. Front view of tank Looking upwards from ground show pump and outlet Showing refugium from above angle. Heater is grey pipe, sponge is next to it and bio media next to that. Blue area is for fish. My main question is would this work? After that I should have some more questions. Also, sorry about the shoddy SketchUp work, was rushing and program wasn't cooperating with me  Thanks -Sam

Erm... It's not going Carpet still isn't back in place, dry but not cleaned. Unsure when it will be ready again, probably before this weekend. The growth rate has always been great under these lights for me, keen to get the tank going again though. Currently filled with 100mm off water just covering the plants, most of the glosso is covered or uprooted because of the tank move
  6. Sounds like a plan. Probably up Friday by midday (depending on how fast I drive ) stay Saturday and back down Sunday. I'm guessing Sunday would be the best time to get them? Least amount of time in transport and all.
  7. When you've washed so much sand that around the back by the hose starts to look like a beach
  8. I'd better start taking orders then
  9. Not sure about law but a general rule is to replace what was taken (once the fern outgrows the tank put it back and take a smaller one )
  10. That's excellent, lucky fogs I'm guessing you collected some plants from your farmland?
