    Plants Wanted

They aren't readily available in New Zealand, they cost a fair bit overseas too. Shipping is a killer also. Here's a link to their USA shop, very expensive: http://www.adana-usa.com/index.php?main ... cPath=2_15 HTH
  2. I have two spare tanks with heaters if you need to borrow them for a bit ADodge. Only 80x40 and 80x25 (both 25 wide) but if you need them just get in touch. Can also tank fish too if needed.
  3. Norm Rejection- Faceless Sorry no Youtube either, not too well known 8)
  4. If/when my rotala is that tall, I trim it. I'd split that in half and plant the cuttings. Other than that, it looks like it'll turn out really well
  5. Yes, yes I am. It's more a of a novelty song though.
  6. That tank looks neat Adrienne, what's the foreground carpet plant? Those Hemigrammus rodwayi are awesome too.
  7. There a different types and degrees of planted tanks. Fake plants for instance, do not count. A lightly planted tank will have a true aquatic plants that are surviving and growing. A planted tank will have much of the tank planted with plants that are growing, surviving and thriving. And a heavily planted tank (such as phoenix44's) will have almost all, if not all of the tank taken up with plants that are surviving and thriving. Then there's the whole high and low tech concept. Loads of light, CO2 and heavy fertilization is a high tech. Low tech aquariums typically have just sufficient lighting, no or minimal CO2 and rely on the fish for fertilization. HTH
  8. pH, Ammonia and Nitrate are the main ones really, I don't use any of my other tests but then again, I hardly use the main ones either. Whilst cycling, only change the water when the concentration of Ammonia, Nitrite and/or Nitrate gets too high for the fish to handle. If using the fishless cycling method, no water changes are needed until the end. I stopped using a gravel vac as soon as I got serious about plants. If you feel the need then only siphon the muck out of the gravel away from the base of plants or else you are taking the free nutrients (from fish waste) away from them and disturbing their roots. As Dennis said, you don't need to be too meticulous about gravel vaccuming. HTH
  9. I could quite easily prove I know about fish and still be denied the right to purchase a fish. Yet I have seen many people well over the age of 16 that know little about fish being allowed to purchase fish, even the more rare and difficult to keep ones. But as I have said before, I still stand by the law but have still not been refused the right to buy.

An optimist would say I was justifying my actions but argumentative works too.

Tinypic is easier, no account creation needed, free but you can't locate photos you've uploaded easily Caryl, it's tinypic.com. It's pretty much as image dumpster. Your photos are up there and just stay there. No way of finding your photos unless you tag them really.

    108L Rimless

Thanks, Zev bred them and sent them to me. All credit is hers.
  17. Hey, if it was up to me the LFS would implement the "pick 'n' mix" system. Choose the fish, bag said fish, write the code of the fish on the bag and then purchase that fish 8)
