  1. The previous three pages suggest so
  2. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... ohcfoeckdi Do it, it's for a good cause! Each tab you open (limit of 250 per day) will go toward a good cause.
  3. Thanks for the offer Ryan, I also have a few bits lying around so we'll see. It's the school holidays and I'm without a job so I have a fair bit of time on my hands
  4. Yeah, well I got this 90x40x40cm, a 2x1x1' and a 75x30x30cm all for free. I'd rather fix a tank than get a whole new one but maybe it's just me :-?
  5. Haven't seen any this size in ages!
  6. I was quoted a 60x30x30 @ $40 new, so one this size would run at about $80 I'm guessing? That's a lot to me...
  7. Yeah, the bottom braces look really shoddy, I'd assume they'd have done a better silicone job :-?
  8. Thanks crew LA, the tank already has two braces (one on the bottom at the front, the other at the back) but there's a whole bunch of bugs and dirt under it, probably from sitting under a house for so long. I guess I should pull them up, clean them and then stick them back down?
  9. Hey guys, I have acquired a second hand 90x40x40cm 6mm aquarium but it has a small crack/smash in one corner: 1. Can this be safely fixed by siliconing another panel of glass over top of it? 2. This tank is in 6mm glass without bracing, originally a turtle tank. Safe to fill right up? The FNZAS calc. says this is a safety factor of 3.375 if that helps. Thanks -Sam
  10. Make sure they come with tubes and if so, what K rating/colour temperature. Remember you have to balance all that light with CO2 and nutrients too... (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48813&)
  11. So long as it's not too harsh on the fish and it's pH neutral.
  12. Wanna see a photo of my legs and feet? I spent 30mins outside with a mate the other night, mozzies love my blood
  13. Got me some mozzie larvae! happy2 This is the bucket with 3 or 4 bits of driftwood soaking in tank water. The larvae themselves And the egg raft waiting to hatch. The larvae are a wee bit small to feed at the moment but I'm still stoked.

Tried the cleaning and chemicals section at Foodtown, Woolworths or Countdown? I know they usually stock it, just the Home Brand stuff.
  18. I've made the ones I would put in a tank that size bold, the rest are a no or I am unsure of. Hope someone can confirm this ^.
  19. Yeah, that's right diver but they may need a larger tank due to their active nature.
  20. Try not to have more than 1 type of shoaling fish, especially in a tank that size. The visual effect created by a large school of a single type of fish is far more amazing than a few individuals of different species. Plus the more of them there are, the safer they feel. I'd personally go with 10 tetras. HTH.
  21. Not suitable for your size tank sorry. LED light tubes off trademe, fitting can be bought at World of Water and the tubes that come with that will be great for growing plants. Get a glass lid from a glass cutter/tank maker. Bogwood and plants from any decent LFS (World of Water again) and the silicone sealant from Bunnings or Mitre10. HTH.
  22. World of Water in Hamilton, excellent shop with a great range. I'd call ahead to see if they have the fish you want. Some fish that could go in there, 10-15 small tetras or rasboras and a gourami or two.
