ash: yup im the same ay... specially when it my missus' camera that im not used to slowly geting better tho.. so hard to get them flaring properly to show the true fins
-
yeah ive got couple of the units.. i find im constantly cleaning them and doing partial changes daily they only take about 18l so over 12 fish... thats not a lot thats why im changing water so much i would reccomend larger tanks.. i were thinkng about partitioning a large tank up with external filter etc For space they are great.. ive got 24 cells all up.. plus lots of other tanks thru out the place great for isolating young fish tho
-
constantly impressed by your fish david still got to get me some
-

might be genetic... but might have been picked on in the fry tank... bit of friendly nipping time will tell i guess
-
Hey ash yup she does have ventrical fins i just checked ... shes almost transparant so really hard to photograph most of my photos are pretty average , really need to fiqure out how to do them decently without reflections etc..think my light too bright in tanks too
-
generally if she bars up she will breed with him just maybee not rite yet.. they seem quite peaceful so id prob leave them too it.. just keep feeding them blood worms what i did when they were in the spawning tank was feed them individual worms off a skewer .. that way only eat what they need. then siphon the waste (poo) out to keep the water clean can be time consuming tho i had one female that bar d up the min i got her home.. so i stuck her in straight with a male... they spawned 2hours later it was so painless and easy... none ive introduced have gone that easy before as for your 7 unsexed fry, you could try introducing them. if they are not fighting already then you should be sweet. one fish will always try be the alpha male... or Female in some cases , ive got one little 8week old halfmoon female that was the boss of the communal tank to females that were almost a year old and full grown! was funny to watch let us know how you go you prob wont get a huge spawn but you should be susprised ... my last one that i thought was average hatched over 180fry.... and have only lost about 10-20 since in last 4weeks.... im going to be over run with crowntails soon kris
-
id take them out and re condition her.. till she fat and round she may spawn at the moment but id say you would have minimal fry I normally get them fat before trying to spawn its good that shes all barred up so they must klike each other

shel look fat and round and akward when shes ready to go..

if they not fighting leave them in there if she gets too full of eggs she will just drop them and ul have to re condition her just feed them well on live foods (misquito larve) or bloodworms leave them to it they will do it when ready but dont sit there bugging them... imagine someone watchn you all the time just make sure they not getting frustrated at each other as they can turn nasty fast... ive lost a female and a male before due to this Good luck
-
i traded the white pair in on a Mustard gas hm butterfly pair they are so cool and also purchased a lavender butterfly halfmoon pair.. i would only barely class them as butterfly but il see how they look once i condition them up again so far ive got 10 pairs lmao once my female cts turn up with the super red butterfly il have few more pairs again .. almost time to buy more tanks
-
joilet: yes those fighters at critter kingdom look to be unsexed! pretty sure they are about 2-3months old so still good to be together in the tanks im sure a few of the supposed females will turn out to be males.. check the size of fins.. generally a good indication.. pretty sure they are veiltales from memory but where pretty small.. egg spot should be viewable if you look hard enough.. but think its mostly viewable once at breedable age... ie 3-4months

ANY ALBINO FIGHERS IN THE 'WORLD'???????????!!!!!!!!!LOL
nycnlo replied to Davd-lw's topic in Anabantoids
hi david would you sell any of these? really keen -
matto: yeah some females seem to be more dominant than others and do blow bubbles a wee bit... just dont seem to stick together as much like the males ones do. some female fighters seem to be pretty agro.. ive got this one female that only seems to like one of my crowntails... she hates her "pair" and trys to shred him .. any other fighter i try to pair her with shel do the usual chase stuff and looks like theyl do the deal.. next time you check shes attacked the male.. and she doesnt even have a nip on her!!! shes just a companion in the female tank for now till io decide if going to try again post some piks up of your fish if unsure of sex and will see if we can tell
-
lol! is it a short finned plakat? some females will blow bubbles but not what id call a nest
-
yeah i questioned it too bout the whole halfmoon thing althought i saw the order from aquaruis .. they were ordered as Halfmoon Pk White pair and Halfmoon Pk Black Pair?? so dunno either way its something differnt for the tanks!
