The problem I have is that the parents are to precious about their fry and won't let the other cichlids come near and have a couple bits of fry.
I think you will need to set up a convent for the female.
Or
Raise the temp to 28 deg C.
I know that my convicts didn't do anything at that temp... wasn't until I lowered the temp that they started to get mischeiveous
I have noticed that they will suck them up when they stray to far from the cave / pit but have not seen it for quite a while until now, so thought it was strange.
I did joke to my wife that they were getting a bath
I was watching my convicts this morning after dosing the fry with BBS and saw that the mother was sucking in a fry into her mouth and then spitting it out.
She went round systematically sucking in each one and then spitting them out.
Anyone know why?
thought it was rather strange :-?
Thanks for the Advice Billaney... bit late, but one pair is going to school when their fry get bigger
donating a pair to my sons classroom to help with their learning of the cycle of life
they can then worry about them there
O Oh
another pair of convicts have just broght their fry out of the cave at the other end of the tank to the first lot.
now all the cichlids are forced into the middle of the tank :-?
I had wcmm with my guppies
They did manage to lay eggs but right behind them were the guppies gobbling up all the wcmm eggs that were layed
I would recommend that the wcmm go in a tank by themselves if you want to breed them. lots of plants too.
See look.
I am not lying... there really are fry!!!
Yeah.. with 4 jags, 4 Choc cichlids and other convicts... baby cons is definitely on the menu... now only if the parents weren't so bossy

It is best if you can lay your hands on a polystyrene bin and Compost
(Potting mix contains fertilizer which is not a good idea)
half fill the container with potting mix and add water untill it is moist.
add your white worms and then cover.
Oh add a small piece of bread soaked in water or milk (enough for the worms to eat up in a couple of days.
With the amount of worms I have given you I would say about 1/8 of a slice of bread.
Store in a cool dark place.
In no time you will have lots of white worms to feed your fishes
Grant seems to have a really good idea with that.
what about a radio helicopter as well for search and rescue?
Misonoma has one that he wants to sell
