  1. Im moving in a month and a half, so will just put them in poly boxes to be on the safe side. things will be better organised in the next house, I collected most of the extra tanks this year without having a proper stand for the main tank - but now that I have a stand for the main tank, the spares will have a nice table to go on.
  2. Thanks! The nano is a work in progress. it has glosso that grew like mental, but then I had to cover the glosso with a layer of gravel, and the new stuff is now popping through. good growth now. I had nutrients leaking up from the substrate and it turned the water green! I can never ever get green water when i need it. so now i fixed it, put some more plants in there, and just have to wait for it to grow.
  3. I in all honesty do not think that the Bn needed to go! but try getting this plant - Ludwigia Arcuata It should be relatively easily available - and if its not, it can be ordered in. Cryptocoryne Wendtii green would also look real nice in this tank.
  4. The tanks do not break  the large tank has a safety factor of around 4.5 ish (I learned that today) and the small ones are safe too, but they wires are connected to fuse things, so they will blow in the event of a fuse. although - how could i keep the multi boxes safe?
  5. That is not my room I have the bird in my room along with alll my study stuff and computers. the tanks are in my lounge. i stress the word "my"
  6. but it has so much goodness in it, it must be good for the fish  I just fed them and the babies again too  bit off topic but here is the rest of the setup and the breding tank, water changes done straight from the main tank, every day or 2.
  7. you are second in queue. I am first  Always keep the first batch of babies. then comes LA. that is assuming I do in fact breed them, and do not kill them somehow. I never could keep my super awesome expensive fighters alive
  8. the fancy new sponge filters are like $16 for the double ones. the corner box filters can still be found at some warehouses for like $10. so both are cheap as chips.
  9. yeah. i overfeed them slightly. they look happiest when they are fat. especially the clown loaches. I love it when they sit at the bottom looking at me with round little tummies. my favourite clown loach even knocks on the glass to be fed and does tricks  you are counting MY eggs before they hatch  I do like this fish. Im thinking a whole load of them over time will look nice too.
  10. 1 sponge filter please sounds like a good idea. now a days they are fancy and have 2 sponges instead of one. you need air tubing and a working airpump and a regulator (tap) to make em work properly.
  11. LOL. they are full of freshly hatched brine shrimp with ornithon in them  . nice peach bellies. all my fish are chubby, with my overfeeding 12 times a day. just toook the pic when you asked, see if you can find the properties lol
  12. LOL. i have another 6 coming next week (hopefully), so if they breed ill post em up here. (I only am breeding e. yellows at the moment). :bounce they are just so pretty with the bluey tinge and NON I-am-a-chicken-and-scared behaviour.
  13. but i do intend to breed from them eventually. As far as I know these are Pseudotropheus socolofi -albino ofcourse- and are the only ones known as snow whites? without getting into the nitty gritty of it - im sure every one in the country has bought fish like these as snow whites??? so if i sold them as snow whites surely that would ok?
  14. I don't have the space for qt unfortunately, but these were qt'd prior to being sent to me. although I have never qt'd a fish  No idea what they really "are" but a snow white zebra sounds relatively accurate? does it?
  15. im sure the tropica website has it. how many pages is it morcs? it costs about $45-50 incl shipping, is that right?
  16. well you can have them initially, but they do grow massive, and at a medium rate - in my view they would look disproportionate pretty quickly.
  17. I have the tropica encyclopaedia on my comp 8)
  18. with the exception of the sharks, it sounds fine. you will have to sell the ghost when it gets larger - but all should be good. put a lot of plants in there, and make it look all green and red like with black basalt rock. looks awesome. do you have access to black substrate?
  19. it won't be feasible for 1 person to get them in - with the qt costs and what have you. Infact one would be setting them selves to fail cause they don't have a relationship with MAF and the other parties. I'm going to call a few importers and see what they think of it - but that will be after the 1st week of November. My dad can ask the powers at be in MAF if I ask him to as well, but that is closer to the time.
  20. ha ha yeah, they are only about 4cm ish now. in a week they will be fat little puppies  . Maybe i should have more than 6 in my tank. 8 sounds good - they don't seem to hide so maybe they will bring my other chicken fish out and about.
  21. There are no freshwater tropical shrimp for the aquarium trade in NZ at the moment. Many of us wast cherry shrimp brought in - but that could take years and years. There are coldwater shrimp that you can get - but those are NZ natives and need COLD water all the time. The only other shrimp are in a containment facility in taupo - some sort of prawn park.
