  1. $25 off said the sign in store. API test kit is all the palmy store has.
  2. I think so. somewhere in that range.
  3. $25 off test kits. No online store.
  4. Good to know that you are happy with the resolution.
  5. 1 item can be for sale and advertised for sale in different ways, and that is legal. It's exactly what cash converters does, as do many other stores. They are allowed to auction the tank and have it for sale in store; that changes when the auction reaches reserve and the bid-offer contract is sealed. liability of proof then needs to show that the sale was made before the auction reached reserve. The only thing wrong with what has happened in this case is that they did not specify that the tank was advertised for sale by other means, but being a known retail store it would be assumed that the tank was not only for online sale as it did not specify online special only.
  6. First time microfolia has sent out a flower stalk. The stalk is much thinner than subulata.
  7. Don't think its so much anger; more disappointment and pity really.
  8. It is not "false and deceptive conduct" under the FTA. Product did exist, and its intent was for sale; it just sold by another means. Had the product been listed for after the tank was sold in store, it would be in violation of the FTA.
  9. 2 glo units are not bulky. have a look at some of them. I have 2 on top of my tank and there is plenty space in the front for feeding fish etc.
  10. Just get the hagen / GLO units. It is more than enough for what you will need, and all the parts, tubes etc are available locally. maybe by xmas there might be a sale on them too.
  11. http://www.trademe.co.nz/HELP/TOPIC.ASP ... ject_path= They have to source you a replacement tank at the same price within a reasonable amount of time unless they had mentioned that the tank was advertised elsewhere as well. I'd also go ahead and lay a complaint with TM if the store can't address the problem.
  12. so ive been slowly removing the fungus laden eggs. Today I have 9-10 minuscule fry from the fertile eggs. that is 9/10 from 131 or so eggs. boy are the fry tiny. In 2 days the challenging bit starts.
  13. eek. some people just dont learn / know / care.
  14. or the gourami. i don't trust them with eyes. that's gutting man!
  15. It's a blue planet tank yes? well the filter looks like its from a BP tank any how. Plants - Sag Subulata, microfolia Crypts - try as many as you can cabomba ambullia you can leave the lights on during the day as well. i have lots of plecos in my tank - even many hypans that are about as ahy as it gets and I see them all the time. I got lots of light too. Feed them during the day only and you will see them more and more often as time goes by.
  16. Used flourish excel eh? Do a search on here for more info, but basically do a large water change (50%) and add some salt to the new water. it is most likely chemical burn and other fish may get it too. Do another water change tomorrow, and repeat with the salt. don't panic too much as you've spotted it in time.

    any tips?

I used to.. cost a tad more than 3k though  Then there is the livestock. Then you'll wake up one morning and say .. well this skimmer needs upsizing. It goes downhill from that point on. FW it is for me until i buy my own house. water from the ocean is free, and you'll need to buy salt if you know someone who can provide you with a regular supply of RO water. youll want RO water so you can keep the parameters stable and you know what minerals you are putting in the tank. look at Reef's thread on here with his RSM for inspiration.
