have done alot more tanks than that north shore to hastings. hired a furniture trailer. make sure the trailer is on springs and not solid axle. pack it well so it cant move and it should be fine.

our entire store is done with marleys gold, 2.5 years on no issues at all.

we have had many customers reporting fish losses without causes. asked about fly sprays and when they have stopped using these auto units, have stopped losing fish. as a test, started using again only to loose more fish. i certainly wouldnt use one.

you will have room for the heaters, we have one in the same chambers as the skimmer pump and the other in the very next divider before the bioballs. personally, while im not a fan of bioballs, i would leave them. we still run them and it has not caused us any issues, also, when you need to, they are easier to clean out (dont clean them all at once either). shame about the apistasia, sometimes hard to manage. we have it in ours, however my copperband is limiting it to our sump only. where are you located?

looks like your on track, but if thats 55kg of rock i need to get my scales checked. Dense rock weighs alot more than porus rock and should be avoided if possible IMO and was that 55kg wet or dry? When we set up our Aqua Reef 400 i used 25kg (dry) and then went about removing it as it was too much. Personally, if i were you i would have added the sand last, get your rock work sorted and fill around it. Last thing you want later on is to have a fish or invert dig and burrow under your rock causing a collapse. Move your heaters to the sump, you'll have better control over temperature. The other thing I found is remove the lids from the sump and the glass ones for the tank. you'll evapourate more water and get a little salt creep, but helps with gas exchange and keeping temp down. also, put a layer of filter wool on top of the bio balls. youd be surprised at what that will catch. send me an email if you want some photos [email protected] cant wait to watch this develop into something magical. :thup:

all of my cardinals and gobies are the first to eat and even steal food from my tangs. pipe fish would be a better choice imo

we use courier post for overnight services. they can be a pain over the counter, talk to a driver.

i would of reccommended the same pump. cheaper no name pumps often do not have the same head height as the eheim, so therefore your "$40 no name pump" may do 3000l/hr but at a 0metre height. @ 1m for example it may have dropped to 2000ltr where as the eheim may be 2100ltr @1.6m considering the eheim has a 3.7m total head. these figures are plucked from thin air but i hope it gives you an example of flow vs height. also what is the warrenty of the "no name pump" i know the eheims that are running on my coral tank are yet to fail me, almost 4 years old and only cleaned once a year :oops: , (compact 600, compact 2000 and compact 5000) i also run a needle wheel skimmer pump, also going strong. in this hobby, sometimes you really do get what you pay for, some will agree and some will disagree.

what quality is the rock. the better the quality the less it weighs. 20kg of good rock could be the same volume as 50kg of more dense rock and IMO rubbish rock in my Aqua Reef 400 display tank i have 25.32 kg of rock

hawkes bay coast line has alot of rivers feeding into it. our salinity is low around the inner shore. not sure if the line was the inlet or outlet, but i do know that water is filtered before being returned. we found that every time we got water from there, (1000ltr +) every reading was different. and when trying to collect via suction pump from the bay direct it wasnt much different. we have some locals who use NSW with no problems at all, bar having to add supplements. others have had no luck keeping sps with it and once switching to ASW have had thier tank come alive. Personally, i would love to go back to using NSW due to the cost saving, but for us it is just not viable.

just tested a drum of NSW taken from the napier aquariums pipeline. pH 7.86 KH 6.5 Mg: 1060 Ca: 310 Salinity: 1.022 PO4: 7ppm NO3: 75ppm my ASW pH 8.4 kH 9 Mg 1337 Ca 420 salinity 1.025 PO4 <0.1ppm No3 <1ppm

to connect to co2 you need to get the controller not the meter. like this one here

growth and colour, lack of algae by comparison. huge increase in coraline as well. fish health seemed to improve and never had an issue with whitespot or the like after either.

we are waiting on eggs to be laid, then 60 days incubation, then a few months of growth at least

we used to use NSW but switched to red sea for store use. new store and switched to seachem aquavitro salinity. i wouldnt look back. the difference has been huge.

what area are you in?

the red sea max isnt due here for at least another 8 - 12 months and will cost upwards of 6k according to our rep. ever thought of the aqua reef 400 by aqua one, much cheaper than the juwel and look very much the same give or take a few details and its all set ready to go.

out of my 5 i had one do that. it was in the electronics. plug it in for 2 minutes and see if it then starts.

i see your in palmy, go into wet pets or whichever store you use and get them to order you a set, they are available and cheap.

the reagents are the same, its just the colour charts that are different. some of the api tests the colour chart is the same for both fresh and salt.

the new cf1200 that have been in stock for the last 6months are with a 3year warranty. from experience id go with the aqua one and if you already have one and like it stick with it

thanks for the vote of support guys, i intend to keep it up and do the best i can do for the store. it is a passion for me and i am learing alot every day. we will be holding alot more livestock soon, out back until i am happy that they are free of any nasties. still located in the same place, however it is not palmers anymore but the garden depot, pakowhai road. and yes we have some africans to teddiebear.

put your black sponge on top to catch the bigger particles or else all you'll do is constantly clog up your carbon cartridge.
