  1. Hey Boxa Girl do you want to borrow my spare heater? if you do ring me tomorrow or in weekend 025 385786. will take it to work tomorrow, travel round a bit for work so could possibly drop it off too. Mark
  2. Hey Count Welcome, even though weve met in other threads I'll try and be there next thursday 8)
  3. LFS here gives me about half what they charge, specifically they give me same as they pay main supplier (seen price lists)
  4. Caryl which latest efforts do you mean? Last book I read of his was the redemption of Althalus, thought it was good. Didnt buy the rivan codex though.
  5. This may be a bit basic, but talk to the local fish shops find out what they are willing to buy from you, see what they sell lots of. Should give an idea of what people are buying in your area
  6. hi chrismack, was going to say welcome but you've been here longer than me aww heck welcome anyway  sounds like a great collection of fish. Mark
  7. running late but welcome fancy fins and welcome polgara, you a david eddings fan as well?
  8. Ira is right get a secondhand replacement or even new cheap. If you want to fix go to a glazier, some will cut a replacement and glue it in. won't cost to much. Or go to a house demolition place, buy a piece of glass and cut it yourself. have to buy silicon and a glass cutter, but is fun if DIY interests you. Do Not try and repair the cracked glass, also there must be a reason for a tank to crack, the glass may be stressesd somehow, check the new piece of glass fits well the tank is level and on a flat surface.
  9. No that does not sound right to me, as far as i am aware the only possible bad effect of lots of water changes is changes in the water parameters causing shock to the fish, so if the water and temperature are always the same there should be no problems unless you stop doing the water changes suddenly. I may be corrected but i think the main reason we need the bacterial colonies so badly is because unlike a river there are not thousands of litres of fresh clean water passing through every hour
  10. recently brought some glass for a 120*60*65 cm tank at 6mm, cost $220 including silicone (went to pick it up and the glass man said hope you dont mind but I had some spare 10mm and used that, same price  ). Since then someone here suggested that tinted glass is cheaper and while not suitable for the front it can be used for the base and back. I also have a tank at 120*30*30 made of 6mm, the top is braced and there have never been any problems. given the price of thick glass, i find bracing to be cheaper
  11. Forgot to say, I think it looks good too. If you want any other pictures posted/hosted mothertrout just send them as well. Mark

  19. Try this page http://www.conservation.state.mo.us/conmag/1995/jul/jul6.html Article on raising tadpoles, not whistling but lists foods and care. Mark
  20. I usually go to Pet Planet in Dunedin and get good service there, I deal with Donna who runs the fish section, but others there also keep fish and are good to deal with. If they don't have what you want they will try and get it, if they don't know they say they don't know. I figure thats pretty good. Also will buy back fish that get to big and any offspring. Pet Warehouse is also good, but further away from me so can't comment much. I have been to Redwoods and Organisms in Christchurch and was very impressed, they have a much wider selection, but also a much bigger population base.
  21. If you want email me the pic and i can put it on for you Mark
