That should be fine. Do you food ready for when their yolk sacs are gone?

What do you have the temperature set at?

    Combtail????

Pretty much. It's usually the result of a single tail betta crossed with a crowntail, giving a slight crowning effect at the end of the tail, rather than the standard 1/3 web reduction of a normal CT. Usually combtails are reffered to with the cross of HM x CT (Something I'm currently working on), but it goes for VT x CT as well. Pic of HMxCT example: Had the same problem, even after Cam posted it in the thread. Have resized and uploaded to different host for easier viewing
  4. It could be like I Dream of Jeanie's vase, for those who remember. A luxurious little hotel looking room, packed into a 20cm vase was quite impressive I thought. Attempted to find a picture but guess I fail.
  5. I'd say females too. He could have even helped out and eaten part of it himself if he was stressed.
  6. You could also do snails if you were keen? I just got a blue mystery snail and he's a neat little guy. Funny watching him suck around the place ever so slowly (,,#゚Д゚) They probably won't do as good a vacuum when compared to fish but I think they'd be less likely to eat eggs too.
  7. I have a male and female together in community tank with no problems. They flare a bit and play around but never gets serious. The male seems to be scared of other males though and just hides from them if put next to each other lol
  8. If you currently look directly below this thread you'll see one tilted "Breeding Fighters". There's 10+ pages of info and help there that I'm sure you could use from a new persons perspective. Will save us all from having to post the same stuff 8)
  9. Are you after a point and shoot or a SLR? Also what price range are you looking at? And will you be using it for more professional looking shots, or just standard day to day usage?

Depends on how generous you feel like being when it comes to the space they have I guess
  11. Something similar yeah, maybe a little more crowning effect. It could vary though.
  12. He was a VT with a very slight hint of CT, probably only 1/4 or 1/8 CT though. We got him from Animalz in Petone so not really sure on his past.
  13. Few of me and my partners... As you can probably tell, we need a new camera  And these two unfortunately passed away but were loved dearly

Didn't you have a CT F up last week Ron? Only if he'd seen that before hand

Combtail's usually come with in the first generation of HM x CT. Not VT. Genetics are not guaranteed. It's not like a simple math equation where A + B = C. You'll get a mix of colours and tail types. All you can do is try it and see what happens. Also since both are from pet stores, you don't know the history of either of them. They will probably have genes you didn't even think they had. My guess would be that you'll get veil's with droopy crowning effect and won't look anything like your male unfortunately. If you're just wanting to breed them for fun and not fussed on what you get, then go ahead and mix and match whatever you want! However if you're wanting good quality betta's, I highly suggest getting a crowntail female of any colour. All just depends on how serious you are really Just tried looking for some pics as examples but couldn't find any unforunately
  17. Take out the filter, if you really want one then get a sponge filter or make you can make one yourself. Take out the gravel, having that will also decrease your spawn size, and make sure you only fill the tank around halfway or less. Best to place plants in a corner too if you haven't.

It's hard to say as you didn't exactly see the spawn or how many eggs she dropped. I'd suggest taking the female out if you haven't already, even if she did only drop 3 eggs. Sometimes it can be hard to see them as they're so small so there could be more than meets the eye. The male will constantly clean, rearrange, watch, do the dishes etc while he's waiting for the eggs to hatch, however he could also be an eater too  That's best for your own judgment since we can't really see what's going on...

Keep an eye on them for the next hour or two/until you go bed and decide what you think will be best for the night. If he seems too aggressive you'd be best separating them again.

As adodge and Tsarmina have said, a bubblenest is not a huge urgency. He'll make it all in good time. I suggest releasing them and seeing what happens. It may take a day or two for them to stop chasing each other but this is normal. Just make sure they're not discolouring or looking extremely stressed. What will usually happen is the male will chase the female around until she hides, he'll then go back and work on his nest, then it's a matter of rinse and repeat for several hours/days

Can they actually get to each other or are they in a divider/holder of some sort? Does he flare at her or just her at him? If you haven't released them together yet, quite often I've found they start building faster and have more interest once a bit of chasing is going on. IME it won't ever go according to the book  Don't give up though, Bluemoon recently only got her pair to spawn after trying for over a month.

If you can get hold of a polystyrene cup, that will work wonders. I've tried with a bunch of different lids but the nests wouldn't stay put as well and bubbles would pop a lot faster. Even if you don't have a cup, just cut some polystyrene into a similar shape of some sort and that'll work just as well. Remember to make sure there's no little bits that break off easily though... don't want him eating any of that 8)
  23. Poor guy. Maybe his gene's will be strong and he'll turn out some other pink ones

    Breeding fighters

Shouldn't be much water movement at all. He will suck in air from his mouth and blow it out just as you've seen. Bubbles will pop every now and again and will probably take a whole night to get a good sized bubblenest. Nothing is wrong, it just takes a while

Any chance of getting a pic of ya female Cam? IMO you'd be better conditioning them up for 2 weeks prior to spawning, can always try before hand though. If it works, it works... if not, can always try again
