    Red hook Pacu

From what I've heard of Jaguars, no they wouldn't live alongside them, they'd beat up and maybe kill your arowana, oscar and borneo tiger.
  2. Caryl, the cooler wouldn't be too big, your tank would be too small.:Þ
  3. I might suggest making all the holes the same size so that the glass covers are interchangable. Not really a big deal though. My tank doesn't have a lip running around the top, just the braces on the top of the glass with a second bit on on the bottom of them like Warren says. And the rear corners are an open triangular piece to give room for the filters. Where do you run the plumbing for your filter? Seems like your tank is probably similar dimensions to mine, just an extra meter wide.
  4. Peltiers are cool. Ok, so it's not really helpful or anything, I just couldn't resist.
  5. I've got long arms too. But for example my gravel vac doesn't work very well at much of an angle so doesn't work as well for the bit under the crosspiece and it's a pain in the butt cleaning algae off the underside of them. Just little things like that. I think making the crosspieces say 3-4 times as wide would be heaps of extra strength and should leave room for 3 smaller openings. Your tank, your choice though.
  6. Sounds like what you want is something similar to how my 440 L tank is. It's got about a 4 inch strip of glass on the left, a hole about a foot wide(With covers) about a 9 inch strip of glass, another foot wide hole and then a 4 inch strip on the left side. So it should be very well braced at the top. Maybe having yours rebuilt with 3 holes because it's a lot wider than 4 feet would be good? You don't want too few because then it'll be tough to get to some areas between them.

    Red hook Pacu

I'd have definitely had BBQ'd pacu if they'd eaten my Surinamensis!

    :(

Strangle him and bury his body in the backyard. Then he'll never touch your tanks again.
  9. I'm almost tempted to come for a visit and make SURE it swells. hehe.
  10. I think it's quite possible it could have been something like that. No doubt fish suffer from heart attacks, strokes and things just like humans do.
  11. It's bullet proof FTP, it's a file transfer program. You can use it to upload pictures to whatever webspace you've got.
  12. You should have throw the daphnia in a bucket of water instead of letting them, I assume, just die and rot in what little container they came in.
  13. I think that's fairly soft. Why are you using a water softener if it's soft already?

    Beginner Cichlids?

I'd say severums would be a good beginner fish. Quite outgoing(For a fish), nice size, eat practically anything and pretty tough. They also aren't aggressive at all.

    Red Badis

Just say it's the rare amazonian badis badis.
  16. Yeah, pretty sure it's a female. Pretty long fins for a female, so if you breed her the fry would have real long fins.
  17. I don't think there's any problem feeding them once a day. How often do you feed the fish? If it's only once a day I think I'd go with bloodworms one day, dry food the next.

    Tiger Oscar

You pretty much described my tank, David, except the uarus and festive cichlids(Festivums?). I think I'd rather have a couple Oscar sized Surinamensis or Severums.

    Tiger Oscar

AJ, find us a killie that grows the size of an oscar and...Hehehe.

    ID please?

After looking closer, I think it's different than what I have, which after looking at your link, pegasus, isn't Amazon sword like I was thinking. I think what you've got might be borneo sword.

    ID please?

Yeah, still on paradise and dialup. Only takes 30-40 seconds or so to download for me. I think it's a fairly good size for a big picture.

    ID please?

Your video card has absolutely nothing to do with how long the picture takes to load. It's your internet connection, I'm assuming dialup? Looks like amazon sword...MUCH nicer than mine, mine's all covered with black patches of algae I can't scrape off.
  23. Hope the hood isn't too far behind. I don't think I could find anywhere for a tank that big in my house. I could barely fit a 6' where my 4' is.
  24. 17th...Damn, too short of notice, I think. Oh well,l guess I'll have to settle for the UHAS one in November.
  25. I think most of that would be far more than you'd need though. You could cut down on the pumping by quite a bit, especially if you cut down on the fish some and you wouldn't need nearly that much light, even over a tank that big that's a LOT of light. Cut down to 2 kw and you'd still have enough light for low light plants if you want the tank planted. A lot less if you don't have it planted much. You could have a heap of lights just sitting turned off for if you want it nice and bright to show it off, but settle for dimmer most of the time. But you'd get a lot of free light if you've got it set up kinda like a greenhouse like I suggested. Running the tank a little cooler would help too. I suppose the only way to say for sure is to build it. But since it's a dream, might as well aim for best of everything. No snorkel when you could use scuba gear.
