It was just a thought, Pies, pull the stick out of your ass and find someone else to vent your pent up hostility at.
  3. I'd be happy to make a small donation to the Quarantine facility congomerate fund. hehe.

    Anoemone

yes, I know they're not an anemone, Pies. but, they look vaguely similar(ok, very vaguely) when small IMO anyway and sometimes clowns host in them. Most importantly, they're a lot easier to keep and stay put. Which is why I said SUBSTITUTE for an anemone.
  5. The safety factor is if it's 2X the glass is strong enough to handle 2 times the force on it. So, if there's a total pressure of 100 lbs pressing out with a given tank it could handle another 100 lbs of force, evenly distributed, before the glass breaks. that's the ideal anyway. As for the rest, I'll let warren answer.

You could try maybe something like a sarcophyton as a substitute. They're significantly easier to keep, at least apparently.
  7. Because length and height are the only ones that matter PER SIDE. If you want to check the thickness for the side panels enter the length and height of those side ones. Like for the side ones you'd put in height of 750 and length of 850.
  8. I thought several of the places in auckland were importers?
  9. I dunno if I'd call NZ prices not that bad compared to prices on the internet. I've seen a lot of livestock even compared to the cheaper christchurch prices that are 700% more than in the US. Though, 300% more seems to be the most common(And yes I AM adjusting for exchange rate)
  10. Haha, Man to make things really confusing, now someone is selling on trade me what they call a midas cichlid "red devil"
  11. That's what I said isn't it?
  12. If it is a krib, I've got bad news for you. It's not pregnant. Sorry, pet(heh) peeve, I guess. Only livebearers could be considered to get pregnant.
  13. The part about a DSB was interesting. I've always wondering if that would work in a freshwater tank, espeically since my cichlid tank's nitrate levels seem to bounce between high and nothing at all.

    Carbon Filters

Nah, wouldn't have had anything to do with the PH.
  15. Not that easy to get access to sodium thiosulphate...Although, Prime isn't easy to find either, I've never seen it for sale I don't think.
  16. Why would you want to adjust the flow rate? Full power is always best.
  17. Or you can use the brute force method and throw a heap of young bristlenoses in the tank...

    co2

It's completely possible to increase both CO2 concentration and O2 concentration. It's not one or the other.
  19. No, I didn't have to recycle. And given that it takes a lot more than an occasional zap with erythromycin to develop a resistant strain I think the risk isn't worth worrying about.
  20. I got mine from Caryl. Still got a couple pills left. It's pretty well known that antibiotics are effective agaisnt blue green algae. I didn't expect it to be effective against any other algae, but it was. Not sure if it's secondary effect though that effected the rest.
  21. I found erythromycin works awesome at killing blue green algae. Actually, it seemed to kill ALL the algae in the tank. Pretty cool.
  22. I'm guessing I won't be getting one. My membership is expired.
  23. Looks like you're right, sorta, rob. Looks like they're Cryptocoryne pontederiifolia Looks like they can grow emersed too...Might give that a try sometime.
  24. I thought crypts were usually much longer narrower leaves and more vertical? Anyway, it's a nice plant whatever it is.
  25. No idea, some sorta sword. I think Caryl had a bunch in a picture of her tank, one of a rainbow. maybe she knows the name?
