  1. Is anyone coming from chch to dunedin in the next few weeks and is willing to pick up and bring some fish down for me?
  2. Yeah one of mine the smallest of the 3 was the same no live feeders, out grew his tank peaceful apparently. Tell that to the cichlid missing the head
  3. Maybe the parrot fish or the silver dollars if it fits in its mouth they prob will have a go. Ive seen ours go for the plecs a couple of times
  4. They got photos up on it now.
  5. Ask cichlid7 to look at it when he picks up the oscars?
  6. You can get a big net, use your hands or use a pillow case or something like that. Big net is prob easier i think i got mine for $6
  7. I got my 2 35cm home from chch to dunedin in a storage container got it from the warehouse for $7 its about 65l easiest way i found
  8. Lucky mofo if they were closer i would of bet u 2 them  . My larger oscars dont tend to eat other fish but the one ive got who is about 20ish cm bit the head off a smaller cichlid. If they have alot of hiding spots they seem to be ok.
  9. Depends on the nature of the oscar. I didnt think oscars got much bigger than 35cm. Good buy on those three oscars by the way

    Oscars

Ive found oscars are not as bad as most people say, mine have been in with jags, silver dollars, fire eel, tin foil barbs, gouramis, electric yellows, convicts, other smallish cichlids, plecs and syno's and they have never fought with anyone else (apart from the syno when it came close to eggs). Its just a matter of making sure everyone has a chance to get food as they are greedy. But we feed the fire eel by hand with 4 oscars in the tank and it def does not go hungry.
  11. Thats why people in dunedin complain its so cold down here to keep all the north islanders away, little do they know

  14. I got it from a pet shop here i got 2 at the same time but they both are completely different in there colours the other has gone more yellow body with no stripes and a blue head.
  15. Could someone help and tell me what this is?
  16. Yeah i use it under all of mine. We have lots of it at work.
  17. Yeah i read on the cichlid forum website that giraffes are suitable tank mates for the malawi eye biter. Maybe i could get it. Is it hard to get more in the south island?
  18. wow i want it 2 would go well with the giraffe haps, and im getting sent up that way for work next week maybe.
  19. Sorry, i meant blueandkim. What sort of price are you looking at for 3 kgs?
  20. What sort of price is that if you dont mind me asking?
  21. True, but thought people would get annoyed at me for being lazy
  22. Is there a good website that you can submit your photos for them to id. I always look up new fish but always get confused as a few are very similar in colours but have slightly different markings.
  23. Yeah thats what i thought too, up 2 a few days ago they were $1000 each but im guessing the auction closes in 12hrs that they want them all gone.
  24. You can get 2 coastal bearded dragons for $1000 at the moment almost like buy 1 get 1 free
  25. Thats what i was sort of worried about, most fish that i have together i have just trialed to make sure they work out as most i dont know the correct names as most are brought from shops that just sell assorted cichlids. But i have heard that they are agressive and ambush other fish
