  1. yea I don't think it will, All of the instances that I have read about say that they have anywhere between 5-15 leaves at the surface before it flowered. Mine for memory had 8 or 9 leaves when it started to flower but I try and keep it to 4 now to give the rest of the plants a shot of light and it seem happy to keep flowering on 4 leaves.
  2. What does the coke bottle set-up look like?
  3. I think 2-3mm holes are a good choice. The smaller they are the easier that are to clog up.
  4. Not enough holes will not slow the pump down, it will just flood the filter box. If the box is not being flooded then you have enough holes. As a general rule you should match the same area of drilled hole to the area of the hole you blocked.
  5. I see a killie in the background  and wow that is quick
  6. Can you not see my pic 1st page 3rd to last post? yes it is my tank with tiger lotus (its on the right).
  7. Mozzies as food = v.good The advantage of grindells and micros are that are good for feeding young fish and fry.
  8. here is my tank as requested top left is a whole pile of Amazon sword pups  I can stop the thing.
  9. I only have live ones because the just turn up in my mozzy bucket.
  10. The easiest way is to get a starter from someone and I don't think you would find any in you garden. Do you mine driving out west to get one?
  11. It's ok many people misinformed about Killies, I found that Australes were easy to start with and are probable a good choice.
  12. Atm I'm kind of doing a killie community tank, it is a 200l plated with 10 Australe golds, 6 clowns, ottos and more cories then I care to count. I'm still looking at what other type I can add to it but with what is in there atm it still looks pretty cool.
  13. what type of Killies? I have had Australes and and clowns with cardinals and rummy noses but if the killie is big enough to eat the neon they will.
  14. I am by no means an expert on the matter and at first I was going to shot the idea down but after a bit of a think, it might just help. I was going to say that one pane of glass will keep out humidity just as well as two panes will, but then realised that is only half the problem, the second half is that the glass is colder then the surrounding air and there for condensers the water out of it. So when you have double glazing the pane of glass that is in contact with the air in your house is warmer because you have used a layer of air (well nitrogen I believe) as a insulator and there for less temperature difference between the air in the house and the pane of glass so it is harder for condensation to form. Still I think you might see better results with a dehumidifier. Just thinking out loud. I am prepared to be proven wrong

    Filter wool

Not all of it has mould or fire retardant in it, The stuff I use is made as quilt batting and I have been using it for years with out a problem. It has not got any mould or fire retardants in it as they change the texture and quilts are really fussy  .
  16. Arrgh sinner! But a good choice, also v'good are dwarf chain loachs and they are what I would recommend.
  17. shhhhh, gessh do you know the only effective way of getting rid of snails is sending them to a puffer owner to be properly dealt to buy a pair of floating eyes and a ever hungry mouth.
  18. Well after saying that i still haven't had any luck with the seeds, was siting in front of my tank and saw a lotus seedling float by  After a quick search of the substrate I have collected around 20 of them
  19. Sure, it will be about 2 weeks before it spits its seeds out
