  1. Thought of koura? might be easier on smaller scale?
  2. From what I have read is that the flower is both sexes, and I think that i have successfully pollinated it, i have also collect pollen and stored it, does anyone know how long long it will stay viable for?
  3. I'm only guessing but I believe the seeds come from the dead flower, so im waiting to see what happen with it plus I'm to scared to cut it off just encase I am right. The new flower bulb is about a 1/4 of the way to the surface now
  4. I have looked into it some more and the problem is the high frequency electronic ballasts, these have a lot of RF noise (radio frequency noise) the international standards that we use here in NZ for them is not very strict on RF noise in this kind of appliance, so there was and is no fault in the appliance, contrary to what you have been told. You could try warping foil around the ballast but I do not recommend it as a electrician.

    crayfish

Barrie is right that they need cold water and I would avoid anything over 20C Sp = Koura

  7. I think add a air stone and turn the outlet of the filter against the side of the tank to try and disrupted the flow.
  8. Welcome Shyfan. To answer some question you will need a 200w heater all thou you might get away with a 150w. How many fish depends on the size of the fish but a rough guide that I was told was 6 cm for every 10L As for fish suggestions in depends on what you like some ideas are: Cardinal Tetras and Rummy nose Tetra (This is only two of many Tetra) Rainbow Threadfins Corys (Pandas are V.Cute) Glass eye catfish For character Kribs, Blue rams and paradise fish although paradise fish can get a little aggressive.
  9. I got a 200L sunsun and the filtering seems fine, you can always add a canister later if there is not enough and the lighting in them is ok my tiger lotus has flower under it and has another bulb coming up now.
  10. on my 200L tank I do a 25% water change every 5 days and on 40L tanks I do a 10-25% water change every 2 or 3 days.
  11. can you move the TV to another room?
  12. In short the bulb works buy having a high voltage across the tube, then electrons jump from one end to the other on there way to the other end of the tube they hit some mercury atoms, causing photons to be released. Then the direction of the electron flow changes and it start again. In a high frequency ballasts this is happening at 16-40 Khz. The result of having electrons moving up and down this tube is RF noise that may interfere with your TV signal.
  13. Ballasts normally have a metal case around them that is earthed already.
  14. I think what mcfish is getting at is the tv reception is being interfered with by the the light? If so the interference is because T5 fluros use a high frequency ballast which will be close to the frequency of the TV one signal and it is the electrical noise from the bulb that is interfering with the tv signal. Is it a DIY setup?
  15. The flower is dyeing off and reseeding into the water, but I have just found a new bud at the base of the plant. I must be doing something right.

  18. apparently it can take a couple of steams b4 the make it to the surface, guess I'm was just luck that my first one made it.
