  1. Well i've read that you can just go get sea water and rocks etc from the local rock pools and all you need is a filter.
  2. Hi, i've been reading the keeping NZ fish thread and it sound really easy to set one up. Is it really as easy as it sounds? I was always told if it sounds too good to be true it usually isn't.
  3. I have 4 honey dwarf gourami's in my 4 foot tank and one of them has gone a bright red with a blue underside. I've done a bit of reading and I think he's ready for spawning. I haven't got any floating plants except a couple of large things of java fern that have been pulled loose of the gravel by my large pleco. Should I be getting more floating plants and if so what? Thanks in advance
  4. Like electric yellows/blues, convicts. I didn't know chiclids was so broad, sorry I should have done a bit more thinking first. What I really want to have is a display tank with a big rocky background, and i read somewhere people were making them for their chiclid tanks.
  5. Just got a 1.14m long tank and stand and am wanting to make it into a chiclid tank. Just wanting to know what is the best things to have in the tank. plants? gravel? stones? etc? Any advice greatly received. Ben
  6. Hi, I'm Ben, I live in New Plymouth, had a few tropical fish when i was a kid in a little 2 foot tank, my dad had a big 3 foot tank and used to own and run a fish/pet shop in New Plymouth when i was little. I have recently decided to get back into tropical fish and have brought a 4 foot 225L tank and a 3 foot tank. Am looking at turning the 3 foot into a chiclid tank and the 4 foot into a planted community tank. If there is anyone else out there whose in New Plymouth or Taranaki that'd be great. Anyways, thats a little about me, and its great to know this forum is avaliable.
