  1. How about some pictures of Mum and Dad???
  2. Not sure what type but the original one split, so the one is OK and has stayed put, but the other one started to move around. I had a power head hidden in the rock, thats where he got caught. I,ve moved the pump now. I am going to move the reef tank (4ft) into my 6ft fish only tank, that will give them both abit more space. (when I;ve got two feet again!!!) I will keep an eye on it now, hope it survives. The fire clown has now chased my two clowns out of their anenomie, because he has lost his one!! The anenomie is brownie purple with green tips.
  3. How great is this!! Well done, make sure you update so we can all see the progress!!!
  4. Thanks!! I,ve done a water change and the anenome looks like its suffered damage to half of his tenticals, hopefully he will recover. All other live stock looks ok at the moment. This is such a great site for help and information!!! I,ve got my foot in plaster so my Boss came round and helped carry buckets!!! Very handy BOSS!!!!
  5. Woke up this morning, found anenomie caught in pump, its shaft is ok, but tenticals abit "munted", I concern is now, will it have poisoned the tank?? I am going to do a big water change now, what else should I do?? I have heard that they do recover, do I have to remove him from the tank?? HELP
  6. Thats good, I have a red banded shrimp, so he should be ok with Trigger. So looks like I will just need to get rid of my maroon clown as I have too many clowns and they will all not get on with each other. I have to wait until my foot gets better so I have two feet to use on the major move. I will have to get rid of my rock too, as I have treated that tank with copper and it is likely to leach out into the reef...NOT GOOD!!! I think I have enough rock in the reef to make it look good though. Then I would like to buy some frags off the guy on Trade me.
  7. Thanks for that, what about my sump medea, will there be traces of copper in that?
  8. How do I know that the copper used in my fish only tank has not stored itself in the live rock?? I am wanting to make it a reef tank and wondered if the copper would eventually leach out??? If so how would I leach the copper out before doing the swap to a reef set up???
  9. Thanks for that, I will move him now.
  10. Sounds great!! Mt box fish is called "Sponge Bob" he is cool except when he bites...if I don't have the food in the right position he bites...even drew blood once, when I was moving something around, he sort of sucked on my skin!! I'm abit weary now of hand feeding my Lawn mower Blennie named "Hugo", he is my very favorite!! He ilkes to be stroked under his chin. Would love to see a picture of Daisy.
  11. He is a Lunare Wrass and the other one is a Green Bird Wrass. Yeah Trigger is cool. I brought him up from Chrischurch in the car...4.5 hour drive, he was fine.
  12. yeah, had surgery last Thursday. I got Den to put the clean salt water in buckets by the tank so it was just a matter of chucking the dirty stuff out the door!!! The challenge next will be to get my "crew" to go to Rarangi and get me more water!!!!  I've run out now!!! I shall be able to order instructions with my crutches!!! They will just love a day at the beach!!!!
  13. Sounds like FUN    I have a 6ft fish only and want to put my 4ft reef into it...except I have a Naso Trigger (big purple dude with buck teeh) and a wrass, which will not be good in a reef. Interested?? I'm in Blenheim though. Good luck and have FUN
  14. Thanks, yes the house is closed up....-4 overnight!!! Snow on the hills too!! What can you do about a fish with a poped out eye?? He has had it before and it cleared up after having him in a seperate tank. Will it clear if I leave him where he is?? There is abit of white spot in there I noticed yesterday, will do water change today...under difficulty, as I have my foot in plaster!!!
  15. my PH is alittle low?? How do I get the coraline algea to grow?? Just be patient??? Everyone looks happy in the tank, I do a water change every 3 weeks, I replace about 40lt, I use natural sea water. I top up with rain water. What happens when your calcium level goes too high??
  16. YES and I'm not even blond!!!!
  17. Thanks Caryl. I have tested the water..... Calcium = 470ppm Alkalinity = 3.2 meg/l PH = 7.9 Salinity = 1.026 I don't have a magnesium test...I should get one as I add about 3 t-spoons about twice a week. The volume of the tank is about 286lt. 4ft with a sump. Looking forward to the "prognosis" and how to make it better!! Thanks for your help Something funny....I went to bed the other night really depressed because I had found my red and white shrimp dead and removed it...well the next morning I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him still alive!!!! I was sooooo happy    I am still not blond!!!!
  18. Thanks for the advice.... I surpose I will have to test with the new tester I got from SA. I did once but I gave up....will try again. Maybe I could ring you about the kalk....so that you can exlain it better. ...by the way I am NOT blond!!!  and thanks Caryl for including those pictures, those clowns are in my big tank and I have the new ones which came with the amenome in the reef, they look the same kind. I must work out how to put pictures on here, I have some good ones. Thnks for your help and I shall get my test out right this minite!!!!! :bounce: :bounce:
  19. I salute you they need to be put into a magazine so everyone can enjoy them!!!! Esspecially the ones that are not lucky enough to have salt wtaer fish :bounce: :bounce: in their living rooms!!!
  20. i don't know  the most comman one i surpose. The two in the fish only tank hide most of the time around one of the pumps at the top of the tank. Eventually I want to make the big 6ft tank into a reef, at the moment my 4ft tank is a reef tank. I am not too clever with my alkaline and calcium levels, at the moment I just add Reef Iodide, Reef complete (raises calcium) and Reef Plus (vitamin). About 20mls 2x a week. My coral all looks good but I don't have lots of new coraline algea, which I would like. I would like to find out more about calcium reactors...would love to be able to see someones tank going with one...I think I am the only salt water person in Marlborough??? and what about lime water???
  21. I have two clowns in my reef tank, and the anenomy has split into two...so I have another two clowns in my fish only tank, can I introduce the clowns into the reef...don't want fights, but the fish only tank clowns would really love to have an anenomy. I had to remove my fire clown from the reef as he wanted both amenomies to himself, and gave the clowns a hard time being a bully!!
  22. what great photos!!! What camera do you use??
  23. will need Caryl to show me how!! Sorry.
  24. Thanks for your concern...didn't know much about it there...only when we came home was it major news!!! My boss Shelley needs a medal for keeping all the animals alive and well!!!! Esspecially the FISH!!!! Even Roger the rooster has put on weight!!! Am wanting to get some macro algea from somewhere....
  25. all fish still swimming the right way up!!! Bought some xtra pumps from SA, exchange rate 6 to 1....everything was so cheap!! Its good to back home again.
