  1. Whats wrong with the price and those specs? Seems like a pretty good deal if u ask me, however goto a Computer Store with that model and see what they can do it for, most likely it'll be cheaper than that. I'm not a fan of vista myself, but to be honest you aren't really going to have much choice in a year or 2, everything will be vista and the support for XP will gradually disappear.
  2. I was trying to feed my starfish a piece of shrimp this morning, and as I threw it in its direction 1 of the cleaners came screaming out of nowhere, grabbed it, and buggered off behind the rocks Pretty sure it molted last night, and released its little babies into the water. Was looking with the torch and could see hundreds of little tiny funny looking things
  3. I know of a few, but I think the rules of the forum forbid us from advertising them? (i.e its up to the retailer to advertise his own product?)
  4. Thats what I'm worried about. Maybe i'll wait for my next yearly review and see what they offer me......
  5. I'm sure theres a few of you out there who have been in a job for a number of years, built up a good relationship with the people there, and management, and then decided to jump ship? I'm contemplating doing it now, and it'll be beneficial to me if I can find a company to take me in the field of work that i want, but I still feel as guilty as sin because I think i'm letting my current employer down by looking elsewhere. What I wanna know, is will this feeling of guilt disappear? I dont wanna leave my current employer on a bad note but I think if I hand in my notice (if I find something else) they'll go dog on me
  6. I've decided its time to stop pissing around and accept the fact that Halides are the way to go. Unfortunatly I'm limited to only being able to mount them above the tank, and not from the ceiling. Being a bowfront corner tank, its going to require a bit of messing about but it can be done. I've had a look and I quite like the idea of 1 or 2x MH's with a couple of Atnic Power Compacts, or T5's. I quite like the Aqua One MG600 http://www.aquaone.co.uk/marine_metal_halides.php But i'm keen to know peoples opinions as to what they use and what they find good/bad/not worth the attention etc At the moment the tank is running 3x 39w T5's and 2x 15w T8's (147w all up). T5's would have to be removed for MH to fit in, hense why I like the idea of having the PC's or T5's built in with the MH. 60CM's is prob the only size i'll be able to fit, but i'll have to investigate more once I know which direction to head Cheers
  7. This is what i've done with fans, on a timer they've made a HUGE difference!
  8. No, not problems with their function, problems with positioning them in a way that works with the bowfront tank. I'll go hunt for a Laguna pump today... though most places prob aren't open
  9. It's just for flow. I'm having a few problems with the nanostreams i've already got and after thinking about it, I like the idea of less plugs. Also the way I plan on setting up the pipes would allow much more manipulation of flow and I'm not as restricted (unless of course the single pump craps itself)
  10. Hmmm would jsut have to find out who sells em
  11. Drifty, where did u get those from? The laguna website has a "max-flo" power pump, which the way its designed would be perfect for what I want to do!
  12. Ur finding the eheim a pretty good unit tho? And did you get it through John?
  13. whats the rating on it? I could go with a 6500lph but i'm not sure I'd want to go any less than that
  14. Will spend up to $500 if required Could look at 2, restriction is fitting them both into a box 15cm x 20cm
  15. Looking at setting up a single pump flow system but aren't too sure about what pumps are good and which should be avoided. My tank is 350l so would like something around the 8500lph mark, perhaps with adjustable flow rate? Can anyone suggest something? Cheers
  16. I wish I had gone DSB when I setup, but unfortunatly mines 1.5 - 2 inches
  17. Jolliolli could ya send me some pics to see? Irrigation warehouse sounds like the go, its just round the corner from work
  18. I thought about Plumbing world, but their website basically looks like all bath/kitchen fittings, not the "raw" parts as I like to call em
  19. Where do most of you hobbyists get your plumbing parts from for your sump requirements? I.e Plastic pipe/tube, valves, elbows, T's etc. (if its Online or in CHCH even better!) Been to Bunnings and Titre Men but they dont have anything worth looking at. Cheers
  20. Did u just answer ur own question there Wilson? How often do you feed?
  21. I'm sure mine was a 500ml one which was enuf to bring the level up to 1250
  22. I use the Seachem stuff. Mine was sitting about the same as urs until I boosted it up. Directions were mix with freshwater. Its something that once you get up to the desired level, u shouldn't need to change it bar a massive water change or other undesired event.

Sweet, I'll bring my fishing rod
  24. My work sells both Sony Vaio and Acer laptops. I've got a Sony Vaio myself, and prior to that I've had about 3 different acers. I found the Vaio to be superior in many ways, and wont be buying anything else. Yes they're expensive, but you actually are paying for the quality. Only prob is that now they're all running Windows Vista, which I find terrible. What we need to know though, is whats your budget. With cheap entry level laptops, you are getting what you pay for, and it doesn't really matter what brand you buy. Not saying thats a bad thing, but being in the industry and seeing a whole range, theres a big difference in performance & quality if you are willing to spend an extra $500
