  1. 10mm is quite thick, not thin (well I suppose it is for all those people who have huge tanks that need much thicker glass). Anyway, I sent an email to that Inside Oceans place. Hopefully they'll get back to me shortly.
  2. Then you don't need to continually dose your tank - just put enough Flourish in to weaken it/eliminate it for a short period, and fix the underlining problem while you have the algae at bay
  3. I think it is repulsive how people line-breed, inbreed and selectively breed animals to get something that looks much more disgusting than the original species. I have seen some hidious Dwarf Cichlid mutations before, like Golden Rams for example. And everything that is albino just makes me sick!
  4. I'm in Blenheim. So that would be quite a long way to ship it from there to here, and most likely very costly. Cool thanks Caryl, I'll try and find a website and/or contact details and ask them for a quote
  5. No I am paying for it. My parents never pay for anything to do with my aquarium/fish stuff. The OptiWhite is only about $30 for the front panel which is all I want. But if you guys really don't want me to get it then I won't
  6. I just said that even without OptiWhite, the tank is still $400 made out of normal glass :-? I'm waiting for some other shops to get back to me with a quote for the tank made out of standard glass without OptiWhite Glass for the front panel.
  7. They need to be kept at about 25 degrees and require other special care, so that's why they aren't stocked in petshops. They can be purchased off breeders.
  8. Stuff girls, I've got better things to do :-? If I go to uni the tank can come with me and it'll stay in my flat. Without OptiWhite = 'standard old glass' So really the shop is trying to rip me off
  9. 10mm is quite thick though, and it starts to look kind of greeny. Mum rung the glass place this morning, and they said without the OptiWhite glass the tank will still be about $400
  10. I know a couple of people in Blenheim that have Gouldians, one that breeds heaps of them! They are very common. They're quite cheap too - about $100 a pair, $70 a pair minimum.
  11. Yep sure. I do hope I get a male and a female... The glass shop rung yesterday and gave me a quote for how much my tank would cost - for a 75x55x52cm tank, with no bracing, 10mm think glass, and a panel of low-ion glass on the from, will cost me $440 I'm thinking I should just get the panel of low-ion glass from them and go somewhere else to get the rest of the tank made :-? There is this other guy who makes really good tanks at great prices, but he doesn't have the low-ion glass.
  12. Wow it looks fantabulous :happy1:
  13. Thanks Caryl for the photo of the Gouldian! I love those :happy1:  Haha I'm not sure what sex the other ones are... I've never encountered that species before :dunno:
  14. Yay it's so floofie :happy1: Umm I'm not sure how you sex male and female pigeons. They just act differently (the males tend to be more aggressive and chase the females around). I have a pigeon that used to be a 'male' until it laid eggs and successfully raised a couple of squabs.
