  1. These fish do not breed in harems or trios. Pairs only (one male and one female).
  2. Sand looks great, but it is really annoying to remove if you want to remove it - it compacts like hell, which is why I don't use it. Not saying its bad though. Heaps of people use it and love it. I do use it in terracotta pots to cap over the peat and JBL clay balls for my plants, so I only use like a handful per pot. But as a base substrate for a tank personally I don't like it. I prefer gravel. Really fine gravel or coarse sand would be the go
  3. Yes it is Fissidens berteroi. Ideal for tropical tanks, but it is slow growing. CO2 would probably help a lot. From my experience it doesn't mind low light, but don't shade it too much. Medium light would probably be best. You could also try it under high lighting and see how you go.
  4. Yep it is suitable for a tropical tank. I have tried it (under low lighting and about 26C) and it grew extremely well. I got rid of it though because I needed the room for more important plants.

    Pellia?

If a plant is found submerged, then it should be OK. If it is found in very damp/wet conditions, there is a possibility it will survive, but growth will likely be very slow, or none at all. If it is found out of water like yours, I doubt it would make a good aquarium plant and it will probably just rot.
  6. Looking for really good sites with healthy eating info. The sort of sites that say how bad McDonalds and KFC are and also ones about healthy eating in general. I haven't googled because it would take ages to troll through them all to find the best ones haha. I'm a bit lazy  I need to educate a poor Chinese guy who up until today didn't have a clue about KFC and coke etc were unhealthy. Apparently in China it's the norm to eat and drink that stuff  :tears: Thanks, Joe
  7. Although I've never really been a fan of hybrid fish, some of those are wicked !drool: I have noticed a common pattern in a lot of those - anything with blood parrot in it is crap! Also the convict hybrids are pretty bland too. I love the EBJD x Jaguar! Awesome

    co2 questions

I read somewhere that pH controllers aren't that useful for planted aquariums. Apparently, because they control the pH, they are no good for plants because they turn on and off according to the pH, not the CO2 content in the water. So from what I read they have no benefit for growing plants at all. And look at Amano's tanks. He doesn't use them and he has the best tanks in the world By the way this is just something I read ages ago on a plant forum. I have no idea how true this is, but just something to keep in mind and maybe do a bit of research on

My sister and I baked cakes yesterday. She made a triple chocolate cake and I made a coffee walnut cake. She only let me have one piece of her cake because she will only eat her cake because she hates coffee cake, but hers was so yummy that I bought two more slices (quite small too) from her for $5   My coffee cake is crap compared to her chocolate cakes. Mum's usually the best at baking stuff but even my sister makes way better chocolate cakes than mum

I already have some. I like chores
  13. I probably should've got the pertensis but mum said she really didn't like them

    DIY Flourite

I don't like any of them :digH: IMO you should slope the substrate slighty from the front to the back and not have any big mound thingies, and position the wood and rocks in a non-dramatic fashion and cover the wood with Java fern. Also I don't really like the whole cave thing that you've got going on there. Looks very African-cichlidy.

I don't really know what to do today :dunno:
  16. No I didn't find any females. I swapped the fish for some medication, a filter, some food and a male hongsloi.

What colours were they? :bounce: $138.00 isn't really much when you think about it. I spent $205.00 last year on some Apistos which died  I assume corals are hardier than fish? Also given good conditions they can grow quite well can't they? Then you could frag a few and make a bit of money out of them
  18. If you use a filter that has already been running on another tank, or you have some seeded media from somebody else's filter, or you put heaps of plants in straight from the start, you don't need to bother cycling your tank. I have never cycled a tank in my life and all my fish are happy.
