  1. He never said he can't have them, he just said that we wants them. Dude, he owns a pet store! He can have whatever he wants :slfg:

Just finished mowing most of the lawns, and I'll finish the rest after school tomorrow :bounce:

Ryuo-Seki rocks would look cool. Not sure if they're available in NZ though, but I'm sure you could get something similar. Or you could use schist like F15hguy said
  4. Large drum (200-300L) with a 10mm hole drilled in the bottom, with some filter wool on the bottom and then a whole lot of peat on top. This will be positioned above another drum/bucket that has a tap, so the peat water can collect in the bucket and I can use it whenever I need to.

I haven't used it at all yet... Those photos I took earlier were with the Sony camera.

It looks very open without the wood. Looking amazing as always Sam
  7. Thanks Sam! I got side tracked and instead of emptying the 85L tank, I just took out the remaining gravel and put it in the 140L and I cleaned the wood and vaccumed the gravel in the 140L tank

I have a Canon EOS 400D to play around with :bounce:
  9. Thanks! Today I'm going to dismantle the second tank and put shade cloth underneath. This tank will be for the Green Neons. I'll cut some shade cloth to go on the sides too, since the fry are light-sensitive. I'll also construct the breeding trap, and I should be able to get the bits I need for the peat filter soon because mum owes me some money
  10. Here's some photos of the male Super Red from last night. I decided to put some gravel in the tank, and I'll try and get some Indian fern to make the tank more interesting for him
  11. Nannacara look really interesting! Here's a video: What bad things have you heard about Pelvicachromis? P. pulcher can be a bit aggressive from what I've read, and also they can get quite large, but P. taeniatus are much more peaceful and don't get too big either (about the same size as an Apistogramma agassizii). That sucks that Redwoods has run out though I really wanted some but I didn't have the room or money for them.
  12. If I were you I'd go with the trifasciata. They're a lot more active than the agassizii, which just seem to sit there and do nothing. Also Redwoods had some Pelvicachromis taeniatus "Dehane" and Nannacara anomala apparently
  13. Beautiful work! What Apistos are you getting? Reed Tetras are a really cool little fish, definitely worth considering. They aren't very colourful however. Red Phantom Tetras or Hengeli Rasboras are some others to think about, and they are always available and are very colourful and aren't too expensive either.
  14. Probably the most beautiful discus I have ever seen in NZ! !drool: Beautiful tank, very healthy looking plants and I love the minimalistic design What are the dimensions of the tank and what lighting, filtration and fertilizers do you use?
  15. Thanks Dan I'm hoping that once I am able to get a female and attempt to breed them that I'll get some offspring with colour on both ventral fins like the male, except hopefully they won't have clear patches on any of the fins.
  16. Here's some photos of my Super Red male. He has a few imperfections in his fins where there is no pigment so you can see clear patches
  17. Ehhhhh why on earth would I do a nude-selfie? :slfg:
  18. I've tried putting peat in a tank before. I did it ages ago and the water was so dirty and it didn't clear at all. Luckily I did it while there weren't fish in it. Also it didn't soften the water at all. A peat filter compresses the peat and somehow filters out the dissolved minerals that make the water hard, as well as adding tannic acid at the same time to make the water soft. http://www.marksfish.me.uk/index.php/Ti ... ering.html
  19. So far I've had no luck with the trifasciata I'm going to put them back in the main tank, and when they spawn I will move the fry into the breeding tank, as well as filling at least 70% of the breeding tank with water from the main tank so they don't get too much of a shock. From there they shouldn't be too hard to raise... Also today I'm dismantling both tanks because I've found some nice shade cloth to put underneath. Now I don't need to have substrate in the tanks anymore. And I must say, the sand from Caryl looked awesome but it was such a pain to keep it clean! I can't breed the Licorice Gouramis or Green Neons until I get a peat filter, so I'm going to keep one tank free so when I get the gear needed I can make whatever adjustments necessary to the tank to set it up for breeding them right away. Until then I'll move the Super Red caca into the tank so he has a bit more room. He doesn't like being cooped up in that little net breeder very much
  20. Dude this is going to be spectacular when set up! !drool: Excellent work so far
  21. Hmmmm... What if I did this - http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php That way I won't need to enter any details. I could just create a "Fictional Character" account under "Entertainment" :slfg: Edit; Just tried and it still requires your date of birth etc. I'd probably just make up something random then...
  22. Thanks for your help everyone! I would definintely not post any post any private information or details or anything. Also I won't be playing games or downloading applications or anything like that. At this stage though I'm not sure if it's really worth the hassle... Also my life isn't particularly exciting so I don't know what I'd post on it. I would certainly not post anything about fish, because it would bore everyone to death! My friends just share funny photos or photos from holidays they've been on or stuff that they've been up to, or drawings that they've done or funny memes and stuff like that.
  23. Hello everyone, I have never used Facebook and I've never had anything to do with it and I don't particularly want a Facebook page. But my friends use it a lot and they all keep saying I should get one. I am terrible at keeping in touch with my friends outside of school, but I'm on the computer a lot so I am thinking it might be a good idea. But I've heard a lot of horror stories about cyber bullying leading to suicide and stuff like that. Now I don't think something like that would happen to me, but the interwebs are full of nasty stuff so I never know. Also my friends are all really nice people, none of them are creeps and they don't swear and they don't post vulgar images or anything nasty on their Facebook pages (I know this because one of my friends added my sister as a friend and she showed me his page and the pages of some of my other friends). I would also only talk to my friends on Facebook; I wouldn't add other people I don't know (e.g. my friend's friends...) because I don't know them and I am not interested in talking to them because they are complete strangers and I don't know what they're like as people. So I just want to know if there's anything I should be aware of or take into consideration. I wouldn't want to be hacked or have any of my details stolen or stuff like that. Any advice, help, suggestions or personal experience you could all give me would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Joe
