  1. every house needs something to wipe their feet on he wants to be a door mat give him that sorta treatment
  2. really? didnt see them on the maf list maybe it an old list or something. but thats good news anyway steindachneri would be cool if they about as bit smaller
  3. any stalks wandering round your house?
  4. never mind found the MAF list finally and only 2 on it , so many apistos though and we have hardly any of them
  5. What geo species do we get in nz? let me guess all but steindachneri ?
  6. haha yeah thats an old pic and sorted now. would love apistos but so hard to get now was getting a whole bunch sent down but they met an unfortunate end so never got them. cories and pencils are easy to do, how big to headstanders get?
  7. either way doesnt matter, it my tank, yours is your tank.
  8. go to school dixon if remember rightly mine was SA and gave you the idea haha
  9. trying to keep it south american 8) hence ignore the guppies
  10. as a male, crack the whip and males can be scared into it
  11. been and done the blue rams, silly things didnt last long so gave up on them. hrm yeah forgot about the poor corys, cheers
  12. tank needs something a bit more. old pic of tank before swords have grown. currently 4 lovely bolivian rams, approx dozen cardinals and some BN plus few other random gupps that will ignore was thinking maybe a shoal of a random tetra or maybe some pencil fish? Whatcha reckon? oh it a 200L, more than enough filter etc
  13. some more neons maybe? bigger the school the more impressive they look IMO
  14. the only thing comparable to them is they are both animals. fish would have a much greater change of surviving and populating as could get huge shipments in etc which is not the same as a dozen parrots of which more likely than not none would ever see the wild, and even if 2 did little to no chance they would do anything. as to disease quarinteen seems to work well
  15. as to the clown that would let it go, compulsory microchips or along those lines.
  16. anyway, why should learning from mistakes mean that it shouldnt be done? yeah rabbits and possums etc were a dumb move, but they are clearly not the same as a macaw so IMO not a good reason not too.
  17. if spending that amount of money there not generally a need to use that as a defence , also as someone said earlier one parrot isnt gunna make babies on its own and thats if it survives
  18. with the kinds of parrots he is after, they would have to a) have lots of money to get one b) assume get special permits etc to keep them so not every man and his dog would have a spare 20K to go out in the weekend and buy one. There would always be the odd exception but with that kind of money very unlikely. It would be the enthusiasts that would have them with no intent of releasing them into the wild to see what happens
  19. he doesnt want to bring them in as a species to live in the wild though
  20. i know the law is there, but it doesnt make it a good one. the give way to the right road rule is there and has to be followed, doesnt make it any less silly though. just off the side, BK have you tried contacting MAF or anyone to see what they have to say? yeah they are likely to say sod off but can not try take a formal approach to see if can do anything?
  21. hehe i thought it sounded like something fancy
  22. sorry but i agree with BK. if someone is willing to pay for it and it is of no harm or threat to nz natives why not? its no skin of anyones back and someone gets an amazing pet. yeah theres time involved but any amount of time can be bought with the right amount of money. its more they cant be arsed changing laws because it takes effort! basically if it poses any threat then it should stay out. if not and someone is willing to pay for it then why not.
