    Guppy problems

Hopefully, but you never know - sometimes things get a little out of whack for no apparent reason. Perhaps the water is too soft? I'm no guppy expert, but I understand they need a bit of hardness.

    Guppy problems

Hi IOU - have you done any water testing? Is this a new tank? 99% of problems can be traced to poor watre conditions (including a lot of invisible toxins that build up in new tanks until the filter is mature). If you can, put the test results up.

Might make a cool Majano nano!
  4. Seems fine - I've poked the wee piece of rock into a hole, and the Xenia is inflated, upright, and has reasonable colour all considered. It hasn't started pulsing yet, but everything seems good so far - did you get your one attached OK?
  5. Hi Sid - it is generally a good idea to not mix medicines - you can very easily end up with toxic compounds and overdoses. If the fish has Fungus, the most potent chemical and best treatment is Furan2, although it is harmful to humans so be careful when handling it. If you have already added Melafix, then do a large water change (70%+), and then add back the correct dosage of whatever medicine you decide to use.
  6. tHEcONCH has gone International! Here's my RSMreefers gallery (click the link to see a slide show). Its a nice site dedicted to RSMs: http://www.rsmreefers.com/gallery57.htm You other RSMers should join too and show the Aussies how its done
  7. Nice work - that looks excellent!
  8. The only things that people regularly breed is Whiteworms (you can buy starter cultures), and Daphnia (often found in ponds) for the adults, and baby brine shrimp (hatched from eggs you can buy) for the fry - pretty much everything else works out cheaper to buy frozen.
  9. I reckon you'd be better off just feeding bloodworms - guppies aren't all that great for conditioning other fish, and they don't work out that cheap when you factor in all the maintenance etc.
  10. It may have been due to the water currents created by the convection, or because they were more 'hidden' from the fish's point of view, but in all probability it is not significant. Cichlids tend to lay on the best available site, but they aren't too fussy.
  11. I'm really only talking about the early days / set-up of a tank. The last thing a beginner needs is the disappointment of dead corals. Once your tank is up and running and you've learned a bit, then yes, why not, but I think that a bit of success early on will encourage people to learn more and do things right.
  12. Nothing - I built a big tank, but then split it up and sold off all the components before I put water in it.
  13. Coincidentally, I just sold my 600 to a guy who had/has a 300 - because he wanted MORE POWER! on his new tank.

    Fish compatabity

I think you'll be fine - there were some imports a year or two ago that were very prone to dying for no apparent reason, but the latest offerings seem a lot healthier, eat, and grow. They are a very cool fish, but like clean water. Why not give them a go if you like them?

    Hello

You can't do that, I'm afraid - anyway, hello again and welcome - ignore my feeble attempt at humour (its a useful habit to aquire)

    Hello

For everyone who can't remember the 70's (I guess most teenagers might not  ) ... Curious George was a cool character that used to have lots of adventures.
  19. I like the more open structure - less is definitely more

    Fish compatabity

Gold Rams will generally only have issues with other Gold Rams of the same sex - they will compete with each other for mates which is why you are best to get them in pairs. Chocolate Gouramis are reasonably hardy, and nothing in your tanks will have any serious issues with either the Rams or Gouramis.

    Fish compatabity

You could get two pairs of rams (they'll set up camp at each ean of the tank) and some Chocolate Gouramis - no problem at all. Its all about what you like the look of 8)

    Fish compatabity

You could have a couple of Angels, Blue Rams, Gold rams, Bubble Rams - it all depends upon what you like. Assuming your tank is big enough, I think a couple of larger fish, like Angels, look great in that kind of company.

    Hello

Hi George - are you more curious than most?
  24. They can be, but like anything else it can stress them.
