  1. Thank you reef Do you have a submission already we can work with to make our volunteers life a little easier?
  2. It maybe as kiwiraka said then if it is the only fish like that in the tank missing scales are usually a product of breeding behaviour
  3. Can you supply how you have worked out the increases as that is excessive charging by MPI and will cripple the hobby, we are looking to put a submission together but from the fact in the provided MPI link we come up with lesser percentages.
  4. the average fees seem to have an increase between 7 and approx 19% across the board
  5. I imagine that will only happen if the QT period is over a public holiday and there was a disease issue that an ordinary inspector doesn't have the expertise for. Careful planning of shipments could help negate that occurring
  6. I have a female with quite a red chest
  7. The biggest change How often could the veterinary inspector be called out on a public holiday?
  8. Pretty vague at the meeting i attended as to exact cost rises Has anyone drafted a submission to this yet?

  14. Rock Cod, Bearded Cod Lotella rhacinus Difficulty: Medium. Description: The Rock Cod is yellow-grey to red-brown with white fin margins. It has an eel shaped body which is covered with tiny cycloid scales. There is a barbel on the chin and juvenile fish are black in colour. Grows to 70cm and over 6kg in weight, and can live as long as 11 years. Habitat: They are found around the coastline It is usually seen in caves, in bays and coastal reefs, depth range 10 - 90 m Temperament: Usually peaceful. Minimun Tank Size: 400 litres, more as it matures. Tank Age / Maturity: At least 6 months Diet: Readily accept all foods both live and frozen Pods, mysid, raw mussel, prawn and meaty foods. Special Requirements: As they are cave dwellers nooks and crannies should be provided. Incompatibilities: Seem to do well with all fish so long as they don’t fit in its mouth.
  15. These fish can grow up to 75cm in length, weighing up to 9 kg, but their average size is 40-50cm and 1-2kg in weight. the one i have is 26cm, grown from 8mm to that size in 12 months, it is in a 1300L tank
  16. don't stick larger wild caught ones in a tank unless it is 1,000L plus they are 60kph fish in a short spurt
  17. They will get too big for that too, fish with turbo boost. As juvies they learn to live in a tank, mullet are a better option
  18. Kawhai need lots of swimming room and clean well oxygenated water can grow to 30cm in their first year lidded tank
  19. the extra costs probably relate to the time and data used to communicate with the scientists and lab equipment in the background that every thing is sent to
  20. Similar to when there wasn't much competition in the importing of marines It will make breeding and fragging a more viable proposition for some
  21. It appears that they are doing this to recover costs and make it more equitable for all importers with some possibly paying less
