  1. It looks great - really healthy looking tank.
  2. Time of year also makes a difference. There's often more choice in summer when plants can be started immersed.
  3. Does it look yellowish or is it just the photo? Maybe look at measuring your macro's? It could be micro's - but I'd have thought the flourish would take care of that.
  4. Video of ADA setting up a tank - posted 26 March So many plants used - squeezed into every square cm of tank space.
  5. Hey has anyone tried the Redfield N:P ratio in their nutrient dosing in a planted tank? Seems easier to follow than the EI method for a math allergic person! http://buddendo.home.xs4all.nl/aquarium/redfield_eng.htm
  6. Wow, great photo's. Makes me want to try an all native plant tank. :cophot:
  7. Yeah its best to borrow/hire a car to get to the fish shops in Auckland. There aren't any in the central city. But you could always take one of the hop on/off tourist buses to Kelly Tarltons
  8. A submersible light like this one. Never used one but would look cool under a decoration in the kind of tank you are creating. Depends on how much you want to spend though
  9. oooh, maybe a in tank accent light under the castle?
  10. I like aquatic plant central -mainly for research, looking at planted tank set ups and the plant finder is quite good. I agree - Local is best though.
  11. So do you think he meant to call it "on the adge of the world" - or was it a typo? Ah well - I guess he won anyway.

Set up sounds great - very jealous of your inline heater! :spop:
  13. Thanks Zev, that's good to know.
  14. Looks great. At least if I ever set up a native tank I know who to ask for moss I thought Doc or Niwa was looking at temp limits of some native plants - but there never was much info on which plants and where to get them. Only a short article on their website.
  15. Wow. Certainly looks like its thriving. Would be great to see and use more native plants. What temp do you have the tank at?
  16. This one's cool. Do we have the green lotus in NZ? Nymphaea glandulifera I think from the description.
  17. Mine doesn't float to the top unless I trim it Maybe with high light it stays down? Its a great plant to try - I reckon go for it!
  18. Tank looks great! Looks good how you've put the plants on the side and back and not smack in the middle. Maybe a plant in front of the heater eventually?
  19. I agree. And even if you happen to think it's aesthetically super ugly (which I do sorry Joe ), you can still admire the skill and technique involved.
  20. I like the tank layout. Looks great!
  21. Planting each plantlet with tweezers takes ages. Well it does for me!
  22. Not long ago I went on the site and there was literally thousands of spam posts. Then it was closed. Shame when a useful site like that is targeted.
  23. It may depend on how much light you have. Hair grass and glosso look great with enough light.
  24. Rocks seem to look stark and larger when they are in the tank by themselves. But once you plant the grasses and other plants they will not seem as dramatic and they'll look great by themselves without any smaller rocks/rubble. Nice layout.
