  1. Im wanting to try Indian Almond leaves in with one of my Killi specie in order to try and boost egg production and fungal damage.

Trade Me has none so wondering if any one has some and are willing to post to West Auckland.

I have no idea how much they are so just let me know and I can deposit into your account.

    Thanks

  2. Apology if you are also a member of the facebook page but for those that are not I also post on here for those interested

    the latest additions
    Aphy. Bitaeniatum Lagos
They show a little more colour than this photo. I picked them up from Hollywood Fish Farm on Saturday morning and placed them in the tank. Fed them and didnt get to see them or feed them until Monday 10am. Took a couple of eggs by 12 noon. From years ago they were hard to get numbers of eggs and had a poor hatch rate so time will tell.

  3. After taking eggs last Tuesday (22nd August) the first fry hatched this morning with another couple well on the way. I only kept about 15 or 20 eggs this way then collected another 20 to 30 on the Thursday and Friday placing them on peat. I will hatch them in another couple ofweeks. This week Ive been picking eggs daily and placing on peat so will give them 2 to 2.5 weeks before hatching. So much easier hatching from peat as you get the fry all the same size.

  4. Hollywoods in Mt Roskill have 2 more pair on N. Foerschi if anyone is interested. They are younger looking but in very good order and mine have started to spawn by the look of it. If your keen on Nothos then it would pay to have a look as the last thing we want to happen to these is to disappear.

  5. I thought I should reintroduce myself.

I kept Killis until about 7 years ago when I had to get rid of them. My interest is in Killis and I find that I become over committed to what ever I put my mind to so it probably the reason I dont keep others.

I tried logging in with my old name (Barrie) and email but couldnt do it so it was just as easy to rebrand myself.

Im a married 65yo guy with 3 daughters and grandkids. I play bowls and go fishing and fund this though my glass company.

I mean no offense to anyone and will offer any advise on glass or Killis that I can

Just holla if I can help and I will do my best.

    Hi Barrie,

I have a Hailea V30 Air pump that I bought on TradeMe. So far I am happy with the quality and noise level.

I think that would do what you would need it to.

    Cheers

  7. Im on the lookout for a pump to feed air into 10 tanks divided into 20 divisions. Not a lot of air is needed but probably enough to put through small sponge filters.

I do prefer better rather than cheap and will probably need to double the output in the next 12 month or so.

Any ideas or brand suggestions please

Also suggestions for 100 to 150 watt heaters please. I will need only 10 of these as the heater goes on the center center divider so heats both side effectively.

  8. very old post I know but for anyone with a similar problem.

The thicker the glass, the heavier the cutter. That means that you should use an old cutter that is becoming blunt but still cuts with a continuous cut and use light machine oil like 3in1 or Inox.

Most smaller glass companies with cut your glass for you at normally about $5 a cut. Be aware that their COSTS per hour are likely to be around $45 per hour without making a profit so it may pay to offer to come back for it ?

remember that fish/aquariums are your hobby not theirs so dont take up too much of their time or they will simply say (as I do sometimes) no, I dont want to cut your glass.

Glass is breakable so it will be all care but no responsibility taken. Some say that you cant say that, my answer is great, take it somewhere else.

Remember as I said earlier, their costs will be about $45 per hour so if your there for 15 minutes they have already lost money in doing you a favor.

  9. these are what I have found, let me know if you have others please

  10. by searching through these pages and the facebook page Ive come up with around 14 specie.

I will list them over the next few days (once I have found my books so that I can get the spelling correct)

I would appreciate it if others have specie no listed if they could either list them or PM me.

    Thanks

Hi Barrie nice to meet u... currently I only have filamentosa and volcanum in my possession but I did have about 9 species which I intend on getting back into. Get in touch with Rodney from Rodney tropical he has a few species but we have now lost most of the species 😔

I have no knowledge of Volcanum. Dont suppose you have a photo do you?
