Thats fine, im not debating that the temp doesnt change much Datnoids, Platties, Kulhis, Bichirs, NZ native's, hoplos just to name a few Iv read reports on the lake, it doesnt say that the lake is the same temp @ 0m and 2m. If there is low turnover wouldn't this cause more temp differences at 0m compared to 2m? I know some fish live on the surface and some in other levels, fish dive down and swim up after food and away from predators, this entering diff water temps I dont think changing 30% of the water @ 22c(into a tank of say 25) will make that much difference to the fish IMO You have your views and i have mine, let leave it at at that shall we?

Lakes are not the same temp at the surface and at the bottom There are large fluctuation's in temp!

Live one's live in crappy sludge Go look at water that's been sitting for a few weeks and has leaves in the bottom

I run my tanks 26c-29c I do cold water changes out of the hose Pools/rivers/streams in the wild have temp fluctuations with rain and the such Some fish even love to play in the cold water coming out of the hose. Water out of the tap here in Taupo is about 21c ATM

I watched a program at 1.30(or was it 12.30) am this morning on a boot camp run in nz. Was called redemption hill. Was quite crap as a tv prog IMO They just gave the kids skills in how to deal with their "problems" Hard to say if it worked or not :-? Maybe worth a watch?

Just stick the hose out the window onto the lawn/garden and use a tap with a hose to fill the tank. No point sticking the water down the drain. More environmentally to put in it the garden isnt it?
