  1. what are you fertilizer the plants with? If the plants are growing, the nitrates should drop.
  2. Do you any water changes with this treatment. Or use any carbon. A full detail of treatment would be helpfull.
  3. Good info. Have you got treatment cycle descriptions for the different parasites? Would make for a good article or sticky post.
  4. BBS are super for danio's. I have seen danio fry eat so much BBS that there guts become V shaped.
  5. Have to agree with spidersweb. Don't use chemicals to adjust ph. A stable ph is most important. With your tap water so high it must have a real soapy taste to it. Maybe go for speices that like high ph.
  6. I have been told be the LFS guy that Brightwater gravel buffers the water down to 6.8ph. Maybe some driftwood in the tank can help to buffer down.

    Filter trouble

Be sure that the connections in the filter are sitting true and that the rubber grommits are sealing them properly. I am talking about the baskets and pump aligning up properly with a good seal. Can be a bit tricky getting it right. Also try adding more filter wool to the top basket.
  8. Billaney. Where do you get the mesh from. I would like to put some on the bottom of the tank for danio breeding.

    Fish ID

Common names: caudo (English-New Zealand), kaudi (Danish), kolstert-muskietvis (Afrikaans-South Africa), pilkkukala (Finnish), speckled mosquitofish (English-Australia), spottail mosquitofish (English-South Africa), spotted livebearer (English), Vielfleckkärpfling (German), zyworodka jednoplamka (Polish)
  11. What happens if you leave the females virgin for too long?
  12. Biggest one I have seen, was 15cm head to tail long.
  13. Guppies would make good tank mates. Well for a few second anyway. At least your oscar would be happy.
  14. Is it possible to buy some at the next closest size in lengh and just move the bulb holders to accomadate?
  15. Fat ones are females. (She must be moody. Just typical female. LOL only joking)
  16. May depend on the chase. Danio's like to setup micro territories, usually in a small area. If it is chasing along the bottom of the tank, then it could be breeding signs. Usually breeding in the mornings,
  17. sodium metabisulphate. you can find it in your brewing section of your supermarket.
  18. also try insulating the back wall and side walls with polystiene and having a tight fitting lid.
  19. Probably better to have two 100 watt heaters. Power consumption will be the same whatever you do. But two heaters are better than one. If one fails, there is still the other one to back things up untill the faulty one is replaced. If you had a single 200w heater that failed in the on position you will soon have some hot fish soup.

    Daphnia

yeah, i bit cool mine are in small numbers at the moment. haven't havested for about 6 weeks. I got mine from the goldfish bowl in the summer. Sells them on Thursdays.
  21. Well, thanks to this post, I think now she is getting lots of hits. She'll be getting a good price for the tank.
  22. Peoples interpretation of size differ. For someone who has only ever owned a goldfish bowl(10ltr), is going to thank a 20l tank would be large. Without a doult there will be people put there that would say quite frankly that a 6000ltr tank is small.
  23. If my aqua cf1000 fails to start, I just turn on and off a few times.
  24. I use a 25ltr water container. Sipon into in. Put new water in it. Can sit it on tank with no problems and open the tap a little bit to slowly add water over a half to hour period.

    PMDD Info

So Daltons mix plus PPMD = very good. Do the trace elements have iron in it? I understand that plants need iron but to much is not good for fishes.
