iv got a 10-15cm goldspot who does that too, but only during feeding time becuase i only give him 2 sinking discs and everyone trys to eat them before he gets to them. im guessing your ones just a bit angry and you got unlucky picking him.

in the short time i had platties my 2 would go to the bottom and hide, not exactly fat. however they are dead now and i have moved on to cichlids so i wouldnt have a clue. anyway there top water fish if there at the bottom something must be wrong, they usual give birth under floating plants etc etc etc

im thinking zebra blue aswell but it doesnt look 100% like one..

if the plants get moved around too much there roots start to rot, and proper lighting helps keep the leaves nice and green.

cleanwater always helps speed things up and a few drops of antibacterial stuff (theres a name for it but i cant remember it)

eww. I only feed them those wardley Sinking disks that have algae and wood fibre etc in them, and if there lucky they get left over flake food. Iv given them microwaved cucumber before but its too much effort so i dont anymore. If giving them vegetables make sure you wash them 1st as they can have pesticides and insecticides etc on them. and then microwave/boil (briefly) them to help the catfish digest them (as they go nice and soft)

this may sound stupid but they need wood in there tank (bogwood etc)

havent tested my water for months and months :lol: you can learn how to tell when you need a water change and if somethings wrong. but i just change the water everyweek regardless

Afrikan should know -
all fish have a different personallity, just like people. So when people say this fish is usually well behaved or rarely kills fish then just remember you could be the unlucky person who bought the emotionally disturbed fish :lol:

Red Jewels are pretty cool, there pretty relaxed aswell. iv got 3 and all they do is wonder around looking at things

killies are seasonal fish so unless your friend likes yearly funerals its best not to get them.

have a cycled tank (reduces stress) leave them both in there so they pair up, before they start breeding the males nose should go bright red. usually if you put them in the day or so before they'll breed the next morning (dont know if its true, just what iv heard)

Wrong, pet world in Hamilton had one for $140 a few months ago although i dont thing it was the L046... this one had the opposite colour arrangement, ie black with white stripes NOT white with black stripes.

probly not, they max out at about 8.5cm and normal plecos grow alot bigger and get aggresive. and zebra plecos cost over $100 each :lol:
