Hi, I agree with everything Spidersweb said including stopping bloodworms. Since I have nearly completely stopped feeding them I have had no more dropsy in my fighters either. I also have never had a fish survive dropsy.

There were some filters on tm last week that are a sponge filter with a difference. They have a bit inside the sponge that has space for filter material like carbon to go in it. smcoleman has them at his place. Might be an alternative.

I think they've just moved house Aaron, so might still be busy. I'm dying to see them too.

Great pics everyone. My husband who is not at all into fish came with me to Origin Aquatics last weekend and commented on how nice discus were. Methinks I might need another tank, plenty of advice and assistance from here.

I think it looks like pop eye. I don't usually do anything for a day or so if its only one eye and it seems to come right on its own.

Coldwater fish I don't know much about but I find swim bladder can be helped if less is given and the fish is given some assistance to stay upright for a bit, however this is going to depend on the size of the fish. I put mine in a hatchery or whatever in the tank and cut right back on the food for a week or so and mostly they are fine.

Another thought, you"re not spraying anything in your rooms at night are you seeing as its your airbreathing fish that are dying?

Could be popeye. Google it and see if it looks the same as the pictures. If it is and its only one eye then its probably beeen in a fight or banged it on something. If its two it could be bacterial and you'll need to treat it as such.

Sorry I should have read it properly. I know angels can cause problems because they nip fins, do the dead fish show signs of bite marks or by the time you find them can you not tell?

What sort of fish are dying? Is it only one particular species?

Possibly dropsy - do her scales stick out like a pinecone? If it is you could try epsom salts but its pretty much incurable. Doesn't appear to be contagious but move her from the tank if theres other fish in there. Dropsy occurs when vital organs fail causing fish to retain fluid.

swordtails, platties but probably not both, I think they can cross breed. I would imagine neons as well.

I run an internal uv filter in one of my tanks. I haven't had any problems in the tank but in saying this I haven't had any in my other tanks either.

I've just gone through the same thing with 2 of the 3 new tanks I set up. Did nothing except one 25% water change after a week and the tanks have cleared up by themselves.

Hi, looks like a good variety of food. I notice bloodworms? for your BGK. Just be a bit careful about how many of these your fighters get hold of as IMO they appear to cause problems if they get too many or too frequently. I don't know anything about BGK so maybe the fighters won't get near them anyway.

Not if she/he's been bitten by another fish but if it is a disease and or infection yes. She will be stressed in the bottle but if you have nowhere else to put her and don't want to risk her in the tank then its probably the lesser of two evils.

I really know little about gourami, you might need to post under freshwater, not many people look in here or so I think.

Thanks Spidersweb - from what I've read on this site, I thought T5 was better. I need to do a bit of swapping around then as I have T8 on my planted and some spare T5 not doing anything at the moment. Now to work on getting some 4fts.
