  1. Cracker and Puttputt That's awesome Do you reckon its the amino acids that you are supplementing that make the main difference? Where do you get them and more important, what do they cost? (if it is not too rude to ask ) With the new lights mine too may start looking like these soon
  2. Puttputt Have pm'ed you Skippy
  3. Nice Chim, real nice - can see why he is a favourite
  4. Yeah he was a neat little guy so will probably will try and get another one. Had a bicolour blenny that jumped as well. He was very cool - used to play hide and seek with me  Glad you like the avatar

I've been real tempted to stick the camera in the tank, just to see.... Probably get eaten by my grumpy clown  Staying at Musket Cove Resort for the diving then lording it up at the Sheraton for 2 days to decomp before flying back. Went there last year and did a few dives. Can get unlimited diving for about $700 each and there is about 45 dive sites within a 30 min boat ride. Diving may not be quite as good as other locations in the Pacific but cant beat it for value. Having said that, the diving last year was awesome

Looks like I'm following your posts around the forum Fay. I'm off to Fiji next week - 10 days diving - very excited :bounce: :bounce: My wife and kids gave me a digital underwater camera as an early b'day pressie on Saturday. Need a crash course on driving it so I can use it over there. Hopefully will get some nice piccies so I can stick some up here. Have a great trip to Raro Skippy
  7. Found one Yeah Fay, I read about your clown - bummer It's even worse when it is one of a pair. Had the same deal with a pair of true percula's. The story I was told is that they were imported together, with their anenome. True story or not it rips ya when they go horizontal. How long had you had your clown for?
  8.   need to keep working on that - may need to build a new house though  Spent time in Aussie as a kid - hence the moniker "skippy" when I arrived in NZ. Hasn't been used since a few years after I left school, but thought it would be a good username Maybe I should change my avatar  I' ll see if I can find one somewhere
  9. Just went to reposition my clam and found a very dried up 6 line wrasse on my cover glass He was sweet this morning, swimming about happily. Methinks my stroppy old flame clown gave him the hurry up - grumpy cow bit me when I was moving the clam  Bit me 8 times on Saturday when I gave the tank a spruce up to show it off - drew blood too - miserable %%$$&& :-? His tail looked a bit munched so I think someone was having a crack at him. Top of the tank is now fully covered up with glass. Never had a problem with jumpers but have now had 2 in about 6 weeks - about the same time as the clowns have been laying More of a hassle at feeding time but I guess it beats funerals

Feeling lonely Suphew Puttputt is awol as hes been tripping around up north, dropped in up here for a few hours and we talked fishies and aquariums. Will be great to have another reefer up here in a bit Hey Puttputt, if you read this, hope you enjoyed the tank tour

Welcome Widdly Piggie  Have fun here
  12. Funny coloured plankton in my sand
  13. I use Aq Pharm for my pH, NO2- and use Salifert for NO3, PO4, Ca and kH/Alk. Would like to go electronic but finding the toys I can afford is a bit hard. I have a water testing lab where I work so might try the comparison test on the pH (if they can do saltwater in the lab). Will find out tomorrow

    tank design

Go you good thing - planning is everything. Just for giggles I might try and design my ideal tank - building it could be a whole new story though. Space and bank balance may put the brakes on it but by the time I can afford to build it should have designed one hell of a tank  Keep us all up to date, chim
  15. Hey Chim, have you worked out your overall average rating yet? What did it say on the box to score so highly?

    my tank

Hey Pacific Blue Looking good, I reckon it doesn't matter too much whether it compares with others, it is what you think of it that counts. I reckon it's looking good - your pics probably don't do it justice. Any specs on your tank? Someone is gonna ask so it may as well be me
  17. Without wanting to hijack Rossco's thread, I am quite interested in what MH's people use. I'm in the same boat as rossco running a single 150W 14000K MH bulb that is probably getting close to its best by date. Not too sure what brand mine is but would be interested in what brand and what K ratiing people recommend. Also where they get them and what sort of $$ you are paying for the bulbs

HI there Cessa, welcome aboard. Sorry I cant help with the Angelfish or Siamese Fighters as I am into reef tanks (unless your Angelfish are marine ones) but have fun here anyway. There are plenty here that will give you all sorts of advice - most of it good
  20. Hi there Tank Man, welcome aboard. Some of those tanks are awesome, actually all of them are awesome! It would be nice to have the $$$ to set something like that up. My second tank is nearly as big as these though - it is called a pool!  How does the acrylic go with scratches, inside and out. And does it start to craze a bit after a while? Again welcome aboard, you will get plenty of enquiries about tanks
  21. Must admit I much prefer the sandy bottomed look. I reckon there is just something missing with BB tanks but as Puttputt says - "each to their own"
  22. Yeah, there is advantages with building a house - you can set it up as you want. Our place has a fully self contained granny flat that Dad lives in and we set it up with its own power, gas hot water system, sky TV, etc. Fortunately he has the pool and workshop on his power meter otherwise our power bill would be through the roof oh, we have the spa on our meter though and that is on all the time. I'll blame the spa for the high bill rather than the fishtank
  23. Puttputt, I hope you have shares in the power co Its lucky you have a freestanding fire. To give you a heads up our power rate is 21.174 and 22.315 cent per kWh (for some reason we have two rates not too sure why) Also have a meter continuous charge of 64.680 cents per day. How does that compare with what you pay now? BTW, our $300 a month doesn't include hot water or heating (both bottle gas) but does include for the water pump supplying the house and also the wastewater treatment system
  24. Nice  Another excuse to get on the boat
  25. Posted while KP posted - thanks for the link KP - I can answer my own question now
