  1. Tropheus Did you get your Otos from the one shipment or did you buy from more than one lot that came in? I will have to post some pics up of my guys, I have also bred some and have some holding.. the young have very much matched up to parents in build. Not sure on colouration however, as I didn't keep them on till maturity, might do with this next crop full and see where things go. My boys are beautifully conditioned, deep and full in the body. Females are slighter of course but I wouldn't say they are fine in build like fryeri type body.
  2. Yeap Frenchy is right and the last lot of Otos that came in I purchased some, looking really nice, I find the males take so long to develop colour, but that is just my findings, and as Frenchy said, alot don't come in with variant, and I saw the list and NO variant was stated.
  3. How are your other fish now? You were saying they seemed rather dopey?
  4. Africans are definately COOL Once you go African, you won't want to go back
  5. When you had the problem with the temp rise in the summer Caryl, how did you cool it off? Now you have got me thinking
  6. Having a higher temp in your tank it reduces the amount of oxygen available in your tank.. compared to say one of a lower temp or a cold water tank, I was just wondering if you had sufficient water surface movement which oxygenates the water... also how well stocked do you have your tank? I am not saying this is your problem at all, but pays to ask anyway
  7. What is the airation like in your tank, good water movement that breaks the surface?
  8. Just a quick question, what temp is your tank sitting at? I know discus can tolerate higher temps, but just thought I would ask?
  9. Wow that sounds cool Brent, my little boy spotted the rock pool tank at the National Aquarium and flipped over it, I am rather keen to set him up one.. so anything around the rock pool area is fine? What temp does your rock pool tank sit at?
  10. I would love to hear all about tidal pools.. and most of all I would love to keep a fish tank solely for a Leatherjacket... chiller units vary in price depending on brand.. hefty prices out there but well worth the money and effort of keeping cold water marines.
  11. Yeah the Bicarb thing is brilliant and others use white vinegar which is also brilliant

    Finally!

My A. stuartgranti "Chipoka" have finally bred!!!!!! Ok there are a heap of exclamation marks I know  But I have had my heart in my mouth the last few days as the male fair cut up stroppy and I have woken up this morning to find a beautiful female with a crop... and there is not a mark on her, so he ended up being a casanova after all... :bounce: Here is the male..
  15. I used to have little Dwarf Indian Puffers, they were the most gorgeous little thing with major attitude
  16. Yeah Puffers haven't been on the lists for a wee while now.
  17. Green Spotted Puffers will eat Bumblebee Gobies, or at least try to eat them, know of someone who tried that one, and they ended up with one live large Goby who forever lived in it's hidey hole.
  18. Hmm yes my relatively large Tyre Track Eel ended up in the bottom of an big external filter before, nice to be greeted by the slippery little sucker, however lucky it wasn't me having to be greeted by him, gave the guy the fright of his life when he cleaned it out..
  19. Simply beautiful! BTW, how big roughly is that tang holding tank?
  20. It would be cheaper to pop off to the warehouse to buy a glass square vase for $8.99 and far better for pic taking, works well. And no where near as deep and much narrower.
  21. For $80 Gannet with the extras? I think the fish would end up going up and down like yo yos or laps of the cube  A good tank for photographing fish would be a narrow tank width wise and not overly deep, or long.
  22. That's a good idea smidey, might look at doing that myself sometime to prevent any intake ends flying off, would hate for my fish to get tempted by the Nemo stunt, I would say, word has got around   Thanks for the tip
  23. Danios as a rule are usually fine and dandy, however, I have heard of 3 cases of the odd rogue Danio having a go at other fish, and seriously no joke
  24. I didn't put a pic up of fryeri juvs because being that they are coming from zenepitz, they definately will not be hybrids so no chance of smidey being ripped, the guy is bang on with his fryeri and they are beauts, a gorgeous addition to your tank if you really want good fryeri. So awesome stuff Smidey, you would have got yourself a real nice lot
