    Hi!

    Welcome back to the forum
  4. Good on you cichlid7, awesome stuff! Keep us posted on their progress.
  5. And just to add to what the others have said.... Bosemani rainbows can at times have a real pain in the butt habit of annoying other fish... and I am just imagining now how much of a pain they COULD end up being to your fighters...
  6. I use a rock called KatiKati Red for my non African tanks.... gorgeous colour, and once it is in the tank for a while, it starts to take on a real natural aged look. Your local landscaper might have it. It's rather popular.

    Mixing Leleupi

I remember Lelus came in through importers rather a while ago now... probably within 2 year period. They were really nice. Nice deep vibrant lemon/yellow. A local shop that no longer is running ordered some in. They were certainly worth buying if they weren't so darn expensive at the time, close to $50 each. I wouldn't go mixing the orange with the yellow, as I doubt ALL in the country have been mixed as in yellows to the orange variation. I would go and search for some more orange variation and work on them that way, I had heard they are floating around somewhere. And keep your yellows to yellow. I have seen some really muddy looking Lelus in the past, yellow with muddy patching almost and muddy looking mask, would be nice to see the nice rich coloured ones kept going.
  13. It certainly would be good to have a larger number of females, more so than the other way around that is for sure, time will tell what you have The dominant male will colour up nicely and generally the rest of the males won't show colour at all. My dominant male in the display is very vibrant, and the other males are washed out and some just won't show any sign of colouring at all.
  14. I would say that the darker one will definately be male... maybe the lighter one aswell as kyle said, however, female fryeri can have an egg spot on their anal fin also... time will tell I had a female recently down the back also who started to show a slight hint of blue on her forehead etc and I thought hmm possibly turning male until I found her holding.
  15. Welcome to the forums, good to see another Fronny fan to
  16. I have kept and do keep plants with certain cichlids, not all cichlids are a nuisance with plants
  17. Here is an interesting read... http://rainforests.mongabay.com/0602.htm I don't think there is any one certain type of tank that has to be classed as "Amazon", I would think it clearly goes by what region you are wanting to base your tank on and go from there...
  18. The Aqua One Aquis range come with surface skimmer add on, they are excellent to have.
  19. If you can get the Sera Granumeat (carnivorous eastern african granule) (and no mammal), you would be doing your fish a real justice It also has has added spirulina algae within mix.
  20. Killies are nice little critters, I think a Killi tank would look awesome planted up etc.. If your friend was looking the tetra way tho... Rummy nose are beautiful I reckon, I would love a tank set up just for mainly a big school of rummy nose *drool* They are another that is expensive tho :-?
  21. No Tiden, snail free I would be  if snails managed to find their way in there
  22. Hmmmm ummm she's still holding... either shes got some Frontoisi's or Peacoisi's in her mouth or she sure has a fetish for aragonite chip
  23. The last pic definately crys Lumphead x peacock..?? and hmm even the blue colouring is very similar.. The more I look at the last pic, the more it looks like it. Looks like it's mama jumped the fence  He is cute tho.
