  1. Hi Ryan, Sure there will be enough if there will be a market for it, Last week I got some Duboisi Maswa from a breeder and he has about a hundred of them that he is trying to sell, me alone got about 50 of Juli Regani Kachese fry that I will be selling for $5 each when they reach selling size. I know a few of the breeders here that can produce the fry if the demand is there. Tanganyika Shelldwellers, sand sifters, feather fins, Frontosa Moba, Burundi and Kigoma are readily available here from local breeders.
  2. Hi guys, Im just wondering where are these Trophs coming from. surely Australia is an approved place to import fish, why dont these importers import from here. You can pick up a Duboisi Maswa here for $10 each from a local breeder and other Troph species (Red Moliro, Ikola, Kachese, Golden Kazumba, Pemba etc ) for a bit more. Frontosa Burundi for $10 too, at one stage Im selling them for $8 each. Lots of Juli species and variants too. I bet in Victoria alone, local breeders can satisfy the needs for more exotic fish in NZ.
  3. I know Im in OZ but here they go. Frontosa Moba Alto Comp Gold head Black Calvus White Calvus P. Demasoni Juli Regani (Kipili, Kachese) Juli Transcriptus Astotilapia Latifasciata
  4. When I was into guppys I used to put gravid females in a sort of a cage using those laundry bags, in this I save 100% of the fry. Just make sure to make the cage properly to avoid the females getting stuck in the edges of the bag.
  5. Cheers guys, yes Mike that was a A Lwanda, I have taken them out of my tank to get this big boys in to breeding mode and its worked. I am now only keeping Mobas, Juli Regani (Kachese, Kipili, Ndole bay), Juli Transcriptus, Demasoni and white Calvus. I hoping to one day keep all the Julidochromis variants.
  6. Early holiday present for me. Have a happy holiday to all!!!
  7. The first picture looks like a Blue Acara and the 2nd one is definitely a Salvini.
  8. Wow nice fish, makes me wanna go back to NZ....o well I will just look at my Mobas for the meantime ... There is one for sale here a few months ago for $400 for a 100mm specimen.
  9. Im in OZ Cyphotilapia Moba Astatotilapia Latifasciata Paracyprichromis Nigrippinis Demasoni
  10. Maybe some of you have already read this. Its a nice article about Electric Yellow. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/l_caeruleus.php
  11. Here is Ad Konings schedule in Melbourne. http://addicted2fish.invisionzone.com/i ... post&id=29 Agap
  12. FYI... I am not sure if he is going to NZ but he is definitely coming here on march. There will be 3 venues, Sydney, Brisbane? and Melbourne. Visit some Oz sites for details, This is a once in a lifetime chance to meet the man himself and get some book signed. Agap
  13. Jewels are pretty aggresive, specially when breeding. I suppose larger cichlids such as Geos or Lake Victorians.
  14. Nice collection there Ryan, that Demasoni is awesome.
  15. They are around 16cm+. Yeah I guess there's an advantage living over here, there is disanvantage too, first is water, 2nd is NZ got more catfish available than here and a lot cheaper too. 3rd, Electric blue Jack dempsey is banned here for import and last I've been searching for Demasoni since I arrived here and I cant find any. I guess no one can have everything. Cheers for the comment. Agap
  16. They are WC and cost me an arm and a leg ,but its all worth it; getting another 2 females next month. Sorry for poor photo quality, I cant afford to buy a new camera  . Agap
  17. I know this guy, when I was still in NZ, I bought a pair of Jag from him, he said they are siblings of his breeding Jags and he only want a pair. He keeps the pair in 6x2x2 so I know they are not stunted but I am sure he told me they are only 2 years old during that time. So my conclusion is they are not miniatures, they are just young breeding pair. The guy I must say knows no more than to breed fish, he's got an 8 footer with 4 full grown Oscar, 4 full grown gibbiceps and 4 half grown Pacu, several convicts and a Gold fish in it, so thats give you an idea. Just my 2cents. Agap
  18. Wow that is a good price, i saw them here at $400 a pop for a 10cm fish. Apparently there is still a big debate about them if they are line bred, a hybrid or just a freak of nature. They cant be found in the wild because according to the ones who "discovered" this fish that they have the weakest traits of any brood and they often die when still young. But IMHO this is hybrid. It looks like a cross between Cuban cichlid (Cichlasoma tetracanthus) and JD.
  19. Hi all Been here in Melbourne for 3 months now and I already got my dream setup. And some bonus aswell (Fry), too bad the six bar Fronts here is not as expensive overthere. I have 10 in the colony 3M/7F, and 3 batches of fry. Sorry for the poor photo. Cheers Ace http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m263 ... 27/098.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m263 ...
