Take the Cories out, GBA's or BA's need to be left alone or undisturbed, Cories and other bottom dwellers seems to distract them from breeding.

Do you know anyone in Northshore where I can get a starter culture?

Yes I was thinking for heating but not directly. If I can get some solar panels, batteries and inverter. I can plug the heaters straight to the inverter. I am just not sure how many solar panels, how big the battery and what output do i need to power up let say 10 heaters or even filters. There are some deep cycled batteries in Trade me at reasonable price. I am not sure about the panels though.

Add more fish, this will distract them from fighting and will spread aggression to others.

You should see what Hollywood put in that tank where the Jags were. They put a 500mm giant Gourami in there with a couple of 300mm Sharks. Poor fish, they can barely move.

I have a breeding pair aswell and I keep them on a four footer with a divider that has a "love door" this means there is a hole on the divider where the female escapes to the other side when the male is getting a bit excited. My male is only around 200mm long and the female is half his size. Another way is to have some target or dart fish so that the male aggression will be focused to them, just make sure that the target fish have somewhere to hide, a divider with holes is ideal.

Hi, Wow that was quick, 4 replies already. Well I keep SA cichlids, mainly the big boys. Oscar, JD, Jags, Texas and a couple of hybrids (Flowerhorn and Parrots) I know it's a "No No" in the Hobby to keep this hybrid but for me its an additional challenge keeping them. I succesfully bred the Flowerhorn anyway. I have 3 four footers where I keep the big boys and another one where I keep my Malawis (Cobalt Zebras), 2 X 30 gal for breeding and a 20gal spare. I just sold one of my Jag in TM coz 2 just paired up and spawned 3 days ago. I also keep a pair of Jewels aswell for they are good source of live feeders( Heaps better that Convicts) Some GBA's and BA's to clean my tanks and that just about it.
