  1. The last minute - or should that be second? - bidders really annoy me. If the reserve has been met I just use autobid and load what I want to pay max, and walk away.
  2. Shouldn't that be any prospective parrot owner should watch this If you do not want to upset your Mum, a hand reared budgie may be a good bet. And watch out for the dog, as well.
  3. Whhhhaaaa..... me Mum killed my daphnia when she sprayed the garden Now I have to work out if I have to wash the bucket out and start again or if it would be safe to just reseed it... :-?
  4. Leaving the bio media and sponges in there may not be a good idea. However this type of filter is good for holding stuff like phosphate removers and as you have found, good for surface movement, which seems to help get rid of the surface scum that seems to accumulate in saltwater tanks that have no surface agitation. retrieved from: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/index.php?PG=marinearticle01
  5. I would agree with myfishybuisness, had this happen with my cories, could not work out if it was the tetras or the snails. Try using a razor blade to shift them around.
  6. Tank builder details here: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=42159
  7. Ira, you are so mean... Especially when we are heading down there in mid November  Hope everyone is ok.
  8. Now I just have to get Wok over to my place. Hmm... methinks food would be a good bribe...
  9. And I bet Jude has sore fingers now!
  10. Did it come back again, Neon? I can give some to Wok this weekend to take up to you both. It is the most severely mistreated crypt I own, get thrown unceremoniously from thank to tank, different temps and water parameters.
  11. Some crypts melt when shifted from tank to tank, others don't seem to care. There seems to be no particular ones that do it more than others, most will grow leaves back after a bit of a melt. May pay to wait until you have most stuff sorted. I can send you some little affinis if you want.
  12. This site is good for info on biotopes: http://fish.mongabay.com/biotope.htm#So ... an%20River
  13. Eenie, meenie, miney, mo.... Seriously, though, when I first started out it was as Ira said 'Ooohh... that's nice' only to find that it is incompatible with either it's new tank mates or the setup, so you set up another tank for it and then buy it some allegedly compatible tank mates, but they chase eachother around and one gets tattered, so you set up another tank, and... you get the picture... Now I am more fussy - I research the fish and try and set up a biotope tank for it. Mind you I still have three tanks with guppies in that have plants from all over the place that I do not have the heart to get rid of...
  14. Have they been breeding whilst you were away?
  15. Ummmm... 15 with fish, 5 empty
  16. No problems, it was great to put some faces to names!
  17. Thanks for the great evening, a bit suspicious about the results for the last challenge, though Rob was very kind to let us visit his tanks today, since we missed the tank crawl, a great consolation! Well done WAS, a well organised event.

  23. Anyone else need somewhere to stay, I have a room at the Ibis that is paid for that someone can use rather than let it go to waste.
