I have seen people use a Tunze Nanostream to get more flow in a freshwater tank, they are 4500lph IIRC, with your tank length it should not cause a 'votex of doom' as the flow is diffused. I have a 6025 in a 108l marine tank that gives a good circulation of water and the inhabitants are not plastered to the opposite end of the tank. Not cheap, though.

I get my sodium thiosulfate off a guy on TradeMe who sells it to neutralise bleach when washing clothes, I think 500g cost me something like six dollars, it is as you describe it, like broken clear rods. Prime should be available from any LFS that stocks Seachem products, if they do not have it on the shelf they should be able to order it in for you.

I would move the small rocks closer to the middle, having them that close to the edges makes cleaning the glass harder, especially if you use a magnet cleaner.
