  1. Um ohk where do i start. If i was you and was going to do a 450L planted i would use more than 4 t8 tubes. I would look at using around 6 if you are going to go seriously planted, and have co2 and stuff. As quack said, don't bother about DIY co2, i found it so annoying to mix up new batches, and the margin for error is too much of a risk as you cant control the amount of co2 very accurately. Reef is selling a brand new tunze regulator on trademe ATM that you may be interested in, I just bought one exactly the same off him but it was older. They are quality regs. BOC rent out bottles for $11 a month, and a fill is only $30, and that should last you for over a year. If you are going high tech, and have the extra $$, then sure, use under gravel heating, but IMO, it is just as extra unnecessary cost that you only need if you are VERY serious about having a mint planted tank. I don't have undergravel heating on my 250L planted and i can grow any plant i want 8) HTH
  2. LOL! trusty ol' BN aye. So yours have been breeding in the thousand litre? My males on eggs again :-? Good going man.
  3. a 4 x 2 x 2 foot would handle an oscar, pleco and severum alright
  4. depending on the other dimensions of the tank the 4 foot should be sweet. Like if it is a 4 x 2 x 2 or something. I know that sharn has a severum, silver dollars and pleco(s) with her oscar.
  5. Temp is just like normal tropical fish and ph is also just like your average tropical. Although dwarfs do like the ph lower than higher, but will handle around 7.....
  6. $171! Thats Bull$h1T. You dont need the edges polished or anything special. Just use a bit of sandpaper and run it over them, just gets rid of the finger cutting edge.
  7. Once they're bigger than sure
  8. Fluval hoses dont have solid bends they just come with little corner thingys that you clip onto them where you need to, so you can adjust the length over the glass. That made no sence did it.... Hmmm, Maybe have a look at some fluval hoses and figure it out 8)
  9. Yes well i would have thought the same nickle pickle. You only have the albinos in the tank? No GBA's or normal BN they could have crossbred with? That could be another factor.... And also, you are 100% sure they are all albino BN, there isnt a GBA that you tought was albino for some random reason? Sorry, you probably arent that silly but im running through the different scenarios
  10.  yer, then i suddenly have hundreds of the bloody things!!! 8)
  11. Is it a light green or a dark green. Maybe google search black beard algae, or cladophora (spelling?) algae, and see if it one of them
  12. First thing we need to know is, what kind of fish do you have? As some fish like to eat plants, and some fish like to dig so much that its almost impossible to keep plants without them floating..... Some 'beginners' plants would be ambulia, cabomba, hygrophilia, amazon sword and val. HTH
  13.  stupid things Dont get me started now mekhaela
  14. Good goin mekhaela, I found hundreds of baby kribs today 8)
  15. OMG! you are married to santa?!?!?!? jokes, Welcome!!! Sounds like you already have the MTS bug Not too long and you will have 3 tanks running again, oh, and another 3 Enjoy your stay

  18. That would have to be a very true statement. Very nice development reef, if only we all had the money to go out and buy a new co2 setup, under gravel heating, temp controller, nice fish, nice tank  One day!!
  19. Haha tonic makes the water go mean blue! Good going luke, nice looking parents!

  22. Ohk thanks for that Alan. I was just randomly reading through a magazine and saw an article on breeding them, and they looked soooo nice, so thought i would ask. Anyone know about the rasbora?
  23. Hi. Just wondering if anyone knows of/has seen any Rasbora Borapetensis (brilliant rasbora) Or any Cynolebias nigripinnis ( black-finned Pearl Killie) In NZ or if they are allowed in NZ??? thanks
  24. Personally i dont like glosso as much as i do hairgrass. My HG lawn has been a bit dumb lately so i will post a pic or two of Antwans of his tank back in the day when he had a MEAN lawn 8) Hope ya don't mind ant! EDIT: we posted the same time hehe, I took the pics from that thread anyways!
