  1. I prefer natural. I only ever use driftwood and rocks, but in the tank my Breeding BN are in a use pots I like smaller fish, That dont eat plants Small cichlids are one of my favs. And angels, i like angels I currently have pencilfish, harlequins, black angels, altum angels, BN, corys, kribensis, keyholes an platys
  2. Uh its pretty hard to tell you aprox costs as you live in london, pricing is very different there... Like if i said $10000000, would you know how many pounds that is.... Ohh tricky 8)
  3. I know a guy who had three different types of eel in a tank, cant remember the types though
  4. Can i have first dibs on a baby red tiger lotus once yours starts sending out runners? I know it will 8)
  5. YES! tehehe just kidding. I totaly agree with the others, you dont NEED co2 to have a nice planted tank, but you will have a harder time with algae, and plants wont grow fast and in a very good shape/condition, and plants may not be as green or colourful as they would with co2. I have a 250L planted tank, which has ground ferts and sand as substrate, and only has 2 36W t8 tubes. No co2 This tank can grow a hell of a lot of things. I have stargrass, rotala macranda and rotala walichii, leapord sword, amazon sword, marbled sword, tiger lotus (both of the latter constantly sending out babys) a hairgrass lawn, tennelus and probably others that i ahve forgotten. I get outstanding growth, with the tiger lotus sending out a new leaf every two days! I am getting another two tubes, and am getting a pressurized co2 system soon, only because i want faster and better plant growth, and want to get the plants pumping to out compete the bl00dy algae!!! HTH
  6. Another failsafe method (other than dodgy wiring it is failsafe, but nothing will be 100% failsafe) is a temperature controller. Wouldnt be worth it for several small breeding tanks or anything, but for a big tank with lots of livestock (like a marine tank or something) they will save ALOT of $$ So sorry to hear about your loss, I found the heater in my baby Altum angel tank stuck on the other day, but the tank was only at 32 degrees when i noticed it, the fish LOVED the high temp for some reason and were VERY active looking for more food....
  7. Ohk here it is. This tank is 48" x 12" x 8", which is 4' x 1' x 8/12's of a foot 8) Heres the link to the whole thread (its for the nano reef contest) http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100658 And heres a pic from about halfway through the thread to get ya started
  8. Just the pic. I am just finding another cool one i looked at ages ago. Will post a link shortly
  9. Yea i think thats what they are, theres a few on the left aswell
  10. Just found this pic randomly, looks pretty... Well... different, but cool at the same time. I think it could have a matching hood with the stand as that sorta kills it.... What do you think?
  11. Whats wrong with your glass/ceramic one? Send it to me... Ill pay postage 8)
  12. I reckon, you need another 50 or so to match billaney Oh, and welcome to the forums 8) Enjoy your stay!
  13. Yea, i just had a play around with the powerhead and cut a small piece out of the bottom and the tubing goes into it perfectly, the bubbles are directed right at the impeller.... Muahahaha. This means i need a bubble counter now though DIY here i come!
  14. hehe. The powerhead will mean bubbles throughout the tank, and not 100% diffusion though, but its better than paying $50 for a tunze one huh?
  15. I think i may just use that powerhead, and fabricate 8) my own bottom plate for it out of perspex and put the co2 line into it, so the small powerhead will just much the bubbles ( or was that bubbas? )
  16. Yer the prototype i made is real bulky, so i doubt id use it, but it was fun That filter looks good, but for $25, i could just put the tube going under a powerhead in my tank realy couldnt i?
  17. I was going to breed them, but i am just gunna leave them in the planted and if they breed they breed. They would be impossible to catch anyways so when i upgrade my planted (its inevitable 8) ) then i might catch them and give them a tank of their own....
  18. Thanks jono, a pic would be great. I am probably going to buy myself a tunze diffuser as they look much nicer, and have a cool clip on the top to hook them up to the tank. I think they are 100% Diffusion....
  19. Ohk i dont have alot, but i love them all 8) I have 3 bronze corys 10 albino corys 5 pygmy corys (corydoras pygmaeus) 1 big breeding male BN, 1 big breeding female, 3 medium females and multiple baby BN I think thats it... Not alot of variation i know :-? I would LOVE some more different corys, and some clown loaches for my planted tank too.... Heres a pic of my pygmy corys i took just before. These arent seen in shops heaps, but i wouldnt call them rare... EDIT: Excuse the algae  :-?
  20. Hmmm well that didnt take long I was going to do a full prototype with an old, small syphon tube i thought i had, but remembered that i had used it to make a filter.... So all i had was my big syphon tube which i didnt want to alter as i use it every now and again So i didnt drill a hole in it for the co2 tube, but i did the rest. The tube is a bit big thought, the total setup being the total height of my 50cm high tank :-? Heres a pic, Just a little 300 odd LPH powerhead.
  21. This may have been asked here before but i just thought this up after looking at the tunze co2 diffusers, and thinking 'how can i make my own one and not spend $$ on one of them' So i came up with this... pretty self explanatory, but the powerhead pushes water down the tube, and the co2 bubbles into the tube and mixes with the water. I am going to go make a prototype now, so will put some pics up once i have had a fiddle around....
  22. Yea but convicts will live in anything... (including puddles... :-? )
