1ml of 24% aviverm will treat 120L of water, so you should stick in around 0.4ml in for your 45L tank.. Remember to do the water changes after 24 hours and vacuum gravel etc you need to remove the worms.. Good luck

Supposed to be a bad mix because angels are supposed to carry hex which wastes discus.. Angels also tend to be alot more aggressive stressing the discus out, and more dominant stealing all the food.. This is one subject that returns alot of info on google if I was you I would google and do a heap of reading

There is a few threads already been started that are probably worth a read.. search.php?keywords=homemade+food&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

The aviverm that I got was 23% which meant 230mg of levamisole HCL per ml, so a dosage rate of 1ml per 115L will give you 2mg/L.. At your dosage rate you are dosing around 10mg/L, as you state it is hard to fatally overdose but the article states that it is o more effective above 2mg/L so you are just wasting meds, I usually work out the volume of my tanks and not take into consideration the gravel etc to make sure I am going slightly over the 2mg/L mark. I think you may have mucked up the maths somewhere to get your dosage. Just in case you were wondering on the maths assuming 1L of aviverm which is 1kg. Assuming 23% lavamisole gives 230gms in 1L. divide each by 1000 to get how much is in 1ml (1000ml in a L) gives .23gms (230mg) per L. at 2mg/L you can treat 115L.

Sounds like Camallanus Do any of these match? http://images.google.co.nz/images?hl=en ... e&resnum=4 It is a particularly nasty worm infection but it is relatively easy to treat.. This link has it all http://www.loaches.com/disease-treatmen ... chloride-1 And the active ingredient can be purchased as a bird wormer called aviverm from your vet or offline.. Good luck!

Drontal, Droncit, Praziquantel, Adtape & Gill flukes

Sounds like a good idea, I think (from memory) it is only active in water for 8 hours so I would mix it and freeze and feed it out straight away.. I am unsure how long it would stay active when frozen or if it affects it at all? -

It is 1tab per 40L of water dosed daily with large water changes.. It will kill your filter so you will have to recycle your tank. If your fish are eating then it can be mixed with food to do the same thing, I think it is 4gms (10 tabs) metro per 500gms food apparently you mix the food/metro together with agar or gelatine and then feed the fish on it.. With a tank of your size you will be best to lower the water level as low as possible before treating to save on drugs. -
I use curtain wire to push a piece of rag through the pipes

Agree with bilbo the water here is very hard and alkaline the africans love it but not so good for the dwarfs.. I use a 200L drum and then filter it through carbon before use.. If I have no rain water I have a 2 stage DI unit that I can use if needed.. Diver21 - when I lived in clark rd I used the water straight from the tap.. I have always used it from the tap the only fish I de chlorinated the water for were discus when I kept them, the breeder said to do it and he had tanks and tanks filled with healthy fish would hate to kill them off or make them sick by being slack and using tap water..
-
No it is far too small, they will kill each other off and you will be left with one.. Min at this size would be a large 4ft but I would say min 5 x 2 x 2 with lots of rock work.

Most of the eggs are all the same colour initially it does vary between species but some are usually white or an off white type colour, they will darken if fertilized and go white if unfertilized..

Just reminding everyone about the up coming swap meeting on the 26th of July, this is a good chance to dust off any old gear or move on any fish that you may have bred or grown out of. It should also be a chance to get some good bargains. Please be realistic on the types of fish you bring as some may require special conditions or tank mates and therefore may not sell. Feel free to email the group and see if anyone is interested in what you plan to bring before the meeting if you are concerned, live bearers and other community type fish are always good. We are also looking for any suggestions on how to run the swap/sale meeting again just send an email. Feel free to invite any fish keepers you may know the more the merrier. Anyone is welcome we already have people travelling up from Wellington etc so no reason for others not to make the Sunday drive. Directions etc are here http://www.centralfishkeepers.org.nz/ca ... club-news/

The only problem I could see would be the temp, guppies would probably handle it but don't think they would like being up at 30C.

Good idea Ron This should be followed with all fish, but especially those charity sad looking cases from the petshops..
-
Nice fish I am not sure your fish is a sunshine though it seems to be alot redder in the shoulder than what my sunshines are, photos can be deceptive though I guess.. It would be helpful if you knew what type of peacock you purchased it as, did you buy them off Maine in Te A. as he had descent fish it would just be a matter of finding out what type you brought.. Also are your fish living in a sump tank? lol
-
Yeah and remember that even though you setup the facility and everything and think you understand all the fees etc maf may charge, as Barrie has said they can and will take a whole batch of fish and leave you with the bill for testing them.. I also believe they can call out as often as they want to inspect the facility and fish and this costs you thousands.. It would be awesome to do but I think with so many importers already established in NZ I don't think you would be able to break into the market and it would be very hard to make a living out of. Personally I think your better to keep your day job and get into breeding a few fish to make the money to buy new fish from the petshop or local breeders.

They should lay on a pvc pipe.. Or cruise under the bulls bridge (or the river over your way) and grab some flat rocks and silicone them together to make some cool caves and stuff, as long as you have something in your tank I am sure they will find somewhere to lay kribs aren't overly fussy.
-
Yes you probably could cycle a tank in a week using ammonia but this person has not stated how the tank was cycled I am sure they will clear this up.. Personally I would recommend treating all the fish, if you have purchased them from a petshop usually they are in poor state (blanket statement obviously some shops are exceptions) so treating all the fish to know where you are at with them would be a good start. It will wreak havoc with filters so lots of water changes etc will be required.
-
As everyone has said the bubbles are fine I haven't had problems with ph rises either, all my apisto tanks are filled with terracotta pots and the ph stays down and fish breed etc?
-
How did you cycle the tank for 2 weeks before adding the fish? Adding the angels for a week wouldn't have done much, I would say the tank wasn't cycled properly and probably still isn't have you got a test kit for ammonia?
-
Brichardi might be alright with adult guppies but they can pack a punch so would watch them.. Any fry may be eaten but if the bricardi (like brichardi do) breed they may even leave the fry alone as they may think they are their own..
-
Sounds like you need to get some metro viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39660 it is usually what people hit their discus with when they stop eating.. I would also be doing large than 10L a day if I could. Did you cycle your tank at all or just add the fish?
-
Cockatoo's are quite common, I have a few fry here at the moment too Unsure what your blue apisto would be there are a few with that name, choose a sc name when you do your next google search. Bolivians are around and usually quite cheap on trademe Golden dwarfs are you referring to Nannacara anomala? Dwarfs are pretty awesome I have just got another few species of apisto I am hoping to breed..

Unless they have had a growth spurt they said this 10 days ago..
